About The Bank Restaurant & Bar
The Bank is a premier dining destination just over the bridge and down Durham Rd from central Newcastle and Gateshead. But the locals of Lowfell may not want too many people finding about their favourite spot, housed in a beautiful old stone building that has stood since 1840, formerly housing the local bank. This is where the Bank gets its name, and the surrounding regions are where the Bank gets its phenomenal 21-day-aged steaks, with prime beef provided by farmers across Durham, Cumbria and Northumberland. Where the rest of the inspiration comes from for this amazing menu is a mystery - occasionally it’s from pub tradition, like a slow-braised steak and ale pie; sometimes it’s from international flavours, like Asian-infused tian of quinoa; and often it could be something plucked from the imagination - try the watermelon and chilli iced parfait and you will be thankful for human ingenuity. The Bank gets cosy quickly, so make sure to book a table if you want the full experience!

I made an online booking but when we attended they had no record. There was a party upstairs so we sat in the bar which was very quiet and we enjoyed our meal.
Lovely cocktails and attentive service. Food clearly freshly cooked- hot- and well presented. Steak was very good and cooked rare as my friend requested. Very nice.
The staff were very good but the one thing that let them down was the main course. I ordered the Sunday turkey meal, the Turkey was very dry and the Yorkshire pudding flat and stodgy. The starter and dessert were both very good
Staff were great & really friendly food was fab :) will be booked again shortly as really enjoyed it and very reasonable price thanks all
Lovely food. Great service. Couldn't fault it. Staff were helpful and friendly. Nice atmosphere. Very happy to go back again. Had dinner might do lunch
Lengthy wait between courses - food was very good. Service could be better. All in all I was disappointed having been previously and raved to family how good it was.
