Beach House Bistro & Bar

We always book Boxing day at the restaurant, but this year due to work commitments we booked Christmas Eve for a table of 6, booked for 8.30pm. We arrived 8.15pm greeted, and seated at our table. As we sat down straight away the waiter asked what would we like to order, in which we replied can we order drinks first please. The drinks were brought over and we were asked again what would we like to order. So we ordered a few starters and all had a main course, then if there was room, we would of ordered a dessert. Our starters came, but we were one starter short. We had to ask for the other starter, when that arrived we were still eating the other starters, but they also brought our main courses out. I said we are still eating our starters, we would like a gap between courses and one starter has only just arrived. The waiter replied yes but the kitchen is closing at 9pm. I couldn't believe it, I said you shouldn't of taken our booking for 8.30pm if the kitchen is closing at 9pm. He replied the staff want to get home to their families. We ate our meals and then a different waiter came to clear the table, and asked if we would we like a dessert, of which we all replied yes if possible. So we all ordered the cheesecake, only for the waiter to return and say sorry the kitchen is closed, no desserts available. One waiter then came over apologized and gave us a scoop of Ice cream each in a dish. Our waiter then returned again at 10pm with our bill, of which we never asked for, and he never asked if we would like more drinks. It was Christmas Eve, we just wanted a nice evening with family. But once they switched the lights on and started stacking the chairs we gathered it was time to leave. We go the the Beach House regularly and never had any issues, we love the place. If we did we would speak with the staff to give them the chance to try and rectify anything, and not put it in an online review, but when we spoke to the staff they were just not interested, the girl at the front desk was apologetic, and that they were closing early, she said the owners have been on the phone and they can close early. Sadly it disappointing visit this time.

Excellent venue. Excellent food and amazing service. Definitely booking again snd would absolutely recommend to others. Thank you for making our first visit to the Beach House a wonderful experience, especially as we were there celebrating my daughters birthday on New Year’s Eve

It was ok, not the experience we expected, OFFERING A VIBRANT DINING EXPERIENCE. more like ‘cold, no atmosphere, loud flashing lights from the fair ground. Food was ok ish, wait for mains and wasn’t the best not worth the price tag, hidden service charge not mentioned. Won’t be re visiting.

The food was delicious, however the service completely let it down. Extremely slow (it took almost 2 and a half hours for 7 of us to get to the point of receiving the main courses). One dish was wrong and we noticed the same happened on the table next to us. Staff seemed untrained and lacked customer service skills and knowledge on the food and drink (one waitress insisted peroni was a cider.) - it just seemed they lacked proper training.

The staff were friendly I will give them that. However I ordered the 9 0z steak medium rare. It arrived as though it had been attempted to be cooked at all available and known denominations from rare to well done along with Raw in the middle for good measure. I reported it to the waitress who agreed with me and I was told it would be changed. However after half an hour I decided to call It a day as my partner had finished eating and I felt the whole catastrophe was filling enough.

Very attentive and professional staff .nothing was to much trouble

We were told to get ready to leave even before the starter was put down at our table. The manageress has no tact and the manager is such a coward he couldn’t make eye contact with us. We paid the bill after our crayfish starter and got the hell out of there as there was no time to even finish our drink due to another function arriving that was more important than our experience. What A place to spend your money in, waste of time!!!!

I don’t know if the place has changed hands or if it’s a new cook but certainly not up to previous standards. Fish and chips over cooked and chips (I I think) were frozen not fresh. The apple pie desert was a joke a 10 cm tart thing for 8.50. One of the cocktails very insipid and lacked alcohol. Wasn’t asked how meal was, despite taking nearly full plates back to the kitchen. Toilets not the cleanest. In fairness when I asked for the bill and said I wasn’t happy with the desert or the cocktail these were knocked off the bill without any challenge, in fact almost expectedly. On a positive the meter / greeter was lovely with excellent manners and a welcome smile, rest of staff looked like they really didn’t want t0 be there. Also, excellent wine selection. Hardly anyone in, for a Thursday before Christmas this was a bit worrying. In a nutshell they either need to lower the prices or up the game considerably.

Lovely setting Attentive staff Good not great - burger overdone, prawns lacked flavour Pizza tasted like it was from a freezer no aubergine bake and as there were 2 vegetarians in the party this then reduced the choice So would come for drinks & setting but not food

My 87 year old mother and I fined in your beautiful restaurant today.We wete greeted by a lovely,friendly young girl at reception.How lovely that was!We wete blown away by the fabulous decor and ambience..and escorted by a lovely young man to a WINDOW seat..we were thrilled!We both had fish+chips..fab+wonderfully served..piping hot.It was huge.I had a bang on espresso martini ..chilled+perfect.We only meant to spend an hour or so there..but,such was the ambience,we stayed 2.5 hours.We didnt want to leave😥The staff were exceptional in terms of efficiency,friendliness..but never intrusive.Thank you for making our visit here so special💚 Anne and Muriel👯‍♂️

Absolutely perfect location. The staff where friendly and informative about the drinks and food menu. The service was quick but not rushed. We ordered the Tapas which was amazing. The cocktails are highly recommended too.

Wow it was amazing the food the views the wine and the waiting staff absolutely fabulous. Had the best time.

Great service and lovely atmosphere. Musician was fantastic and very kind with the kids requesting songs. Food was amazing - tomahawk steak was great.

We had to wait half an hour on our table. After a 5 minute wait we were asked to wait at the bar, where we had to stand until our table was available, no seat was offered. Our starters arrived at different times and not together. I had the sole and calamari which was overcooked. Our mains were also overcooked. I had sea bass which was dry and overdone. My partner had steak which he had asked for medium rare and it arrived medium to well done. We both left our food as it left us with loss of appetite due to the experience. Although they removed the steak from the bill we left the restaurant disappointed .

from the moment we walked in everything exceeded our expectations we ordered a full sea bass to share which was grilled to perfection the side dishes of broccoli and garlic roast potatoes were all cooked fresh worthy of a Michelin star ⭐️

We booked a table for lunch at 12 but when we arrived were informed no food orders could be taken until at least 12:25 because of staff changeovers. We were ok as not on a tight timescale but people at other tables left as they had children with them & couldn’t wait

Staff were super attentive. Had live lobster which I got to see at my table. It was delicious and reasonably priced for the size. House wine was good value and very pleasant.

Upon leaving the restaurant my wife has suffered from stomach pains and diarrhoea. This meal was the only foodstuffs she has had during the afternoon. We both shared an orange juice earlier.I am fine. She ate the mussels,which she commented "were full of sand" and did not seem to have been washed properly.
