Dishing out first-rate food in a homely, welcoming atmosphere right by Heaton Park, The Bluebell boasts the roasts and toastable ales to be in the conversation on the best pubs around town. It’s always cosy but never overcrowded, which is probably just how the locals want to keep it since it’s their source of seriously good grub. The bar is loaded with options, and The Bluebell’s beer garden offers one of the best outdoor areas of any bar in Newcastle, though the food is what makes this pub truly special. Award-winning chef Scott Greenwood and his team take British classics to the next level, so if you’re in the mood for scampi and chips or a Sunday roast The Bluebell should be at the top of your list, though a number of modern creations and international influences spice things up, like goats cheese frittata or crispy Thai beef salad.
