Awful. Service very poor. Didn’t have most items we wanted to order from the menu. People on next table sent food back as it was cold.Left and went elsewhere. Shame as we were looking forward to it.

There was 5 of us & although the food was good we had to wait over 45 minutes for it, we were given £5.00 off for the inconvenience!

A very nice atmospheric pub and lovely old building. We just wanted a quick supper before going somewhere else and the home-made pizzas were very nice. The staff were very pleasant, efficient and attentive. We shall be back to sample their beers sometime !

Went there today as part of a family day out. The staff were very friendly and nice. Very caring and attentive. The food was top quality and we will be visiting again. Really good relaxed atmosphere.

Sunday menu only has a small choice. 5 of our party had the Sunday lunch burger. Several items on all burgers were burnt black. Roast potatoes not great (reheated/frozen?). Virtually no veggies. Not cheap for pub grub. Staff were all very pleasant but all in all we were disappointed and would not recommend.

It was very busy and difficult to get served but overall it was reasonable value for money. The local Hood beer was poor which was disappointing but the Doombar made up for it. We were all happy with our burgers. It was a pleasant environment and we felt like we were in a cool place so I'd probably go back again.

Although I received email confirmation of my booking as being accepted when we arrived they didn't have any knowledge of my booking at all but they were very accommodating and firstly compensated me with a round of drinks and then organised a table for my party next door in Fothergills, so not so bad after all .

This is a lovely place to meet, eat and drink. Situated just below the castle gatehouse, there's plenty of seating outside to enjoy a pre lunch Chardonnay. Our meals were delicious, the service attentive, friendly and efficient and, because we'd visited the food and drink festival at the castle, we were entitled to a 10% discount as well. Perfect.
