Staff gave a friendly professional greeting. Nothing was too much of an issue. Service was prompt and the food was delicious. Well maintained building and very welcoming.
We had a lovely lunch with family - thank you
A nice Sunday lunch dining experience. I would recommend it
Good food, friendly service, though we did feel a bit forgotten at times.
We’d drove past this pub a couple of times and thought we should try it. Today was the day. We booked a table super easily online and were very pleased with the decor and feel of the pub, lounge and restaurant. As it was a Sunday we chose the beef roast and it did not disappoint. In fact, we’ve tried a few different pubs and restaurants around the proximity of Grantham and this one tops our list! We were amazed with the top quality soft and buttery beef and quantity of veg and tasty gravy for what felt like a low price of £18. We’ll be coming again, with guests 😁
Brilliant as always. Food was spot on again. Thanks George & team
Really are regular here now. Don’t bother looking anywhere else. Brilliant food and service every time
Very easy to navigate website to book table, excellent meals and we were very well look after by the lovely young lady serving us.
Friendly staff, good beer and excellent food. Well worth a visit.
Very nice food. Polite service. It was busy, which made it a bit noisy. Difficult to find a parking space though.
Our first visit since the menu changed along with the chef. Very impressed and back to its best, if not even better. We’ll be back soon.
A really lovely meal and superb service, would recommend to friends
Great food and atmosphere, the service was excellent in all respects
Great pub. Always a warm welcome and good food from the new chef. Looking forward to trying the new menu which is out next week.
Four of us ate on a Friday night. The pub has a great atmosphere and the food is excellent. We struggle to eat out due to food intolerances in our group and were catered for amazing. Cannot thank George and the chef Nathan enough for checking that the menu was OK for us and for a stunning meal. We are so lucky to have such good food on our doorstep
As always great food thank you, lovely place to eat and drink
Great Sunday Lunch. Excellent service couldn't fault anything. Will return
We didn’t stay to eat. We were not told till arrival there was a wedding in the restaurant and though we were given a table in the bar it was noisy and busy with wedding guests any though we were given drinks we left because it was clear we would not be getting a pleasant evening meal. They’ve done a great job on the pub so all credit to them but this was not good. It took us ages to find another restaurant.
A great meal at The Chequers. Great menu choice, our meals included haddock, gammon , chicken and salmon and all were excellent. Staff were very attentive and did everything they could to make sure we had a good time.
Spot on again. Can’t fault George and team. Food is lovely
Great Sunday lunch after a morning walk. Good portions, quick service. Hope to come back!
The best Sunday lunch we have ever eaten out! No faults what so ever, will certainly be back!
Starter and main course were excellent. Made very welcome by mine host.
Food was extremely tasty. I could have had more jus/sauce with my salmon dish, it came with a large portion of potato, which made it very dry. Pie was a proper pie, and well tasty. Extra gravy was requested. Créme brûlée was amazing, as was the crumble. The place was very welcoming and decor was classy and comfortable. I will be returning when I next meet up with my friend.
The pub is beautifully presented, with a fabulous atmosphere. Graham and George always make you feel very welcome. The four of us chose different options and were delighted with the presentation and quality of the food which was fresh and tasty. Four clean plates demonstrated the point. Lovely desserts too. Highly recommend The Chequers.
Much improved new menu and great quality of food. Service friendly as always. Would be great to see some specials appearing in the future 🤞
Good food in very little pleasant surroundings. Will be back.
The Sunday lunch was first class. The stall were excellent. No criticism at all.
Excellent, beyond expectations, service and food exceptional, pricing great value for money...
Service and food brill decor very good and all round great lunch
Wow. New menu and full of choices for lunch. Our regular stop now when we are travelling to family down this way. Thanks for everything’s George & team
On our way once again to family down South and had lunch here for the second time. Perfect! Changed the menu which was great. George & team couldn’t be more welcoming.
Another brilliant lunch on our way to visit family. We make The Cheques Inn a must stop at every time we do this trip. Can’t fault the food, always fresh & tasty. George & team do a brilliant job looking after us
Our first time here for lunch. Absolutely spot on. Service was excellent and the beer just right

Another return visit. Another great lunch & brilliant service by George & team
Brilliant. George was ultra helpful and very attentive. Food is spot on too
Good food and drink, busy time but coped well. Good job
Great steak and chips. Lovely atmosphere. Really enjoyed our visit
Father’s Day with family, we experienced starters, mains and pudding's all presented well, however we ordered two salmon mains from the roast section which would only comment that I’m not sure the stuffing and Yorkshire pudding supported the fish well Perhaps just the potatoes and seasonal vegetables would be adequate One tomatoes soup starter just didn’t quite taste right on our occasion by being too sharp and a little acidic Otherwise a lovely atmosphere with good service Will visit again Thankyou
The Chequers is a beautifully clean and inviting pub, the bar staff (George) was polite, courteous and friendly without being familiar and the food was good, it was the first week of a new chef. We would have no problems in returning when we are over that way again.
Family of 9. Amazing food and great service. Would recommend
Quantity of food outshone its quality. So much on one plate. Meat was ok, but vegetables were very poor. They were not al dente but rather poorly cooked and underdone. The parsnip was not cooked. at all. Its a shame, but unlikely to return. Sorry
Food very good. Service excellent. We sat outside and were very comfortable.
Very good choice of Sunday lunch options, all of ours really delicious (and plentiful). Lovely setting, staff friendly and helpful, and everything met our needs. We'll come back another time to try out the other menu! Thanks very much.
Most enjoyable the staff were very good, food was flavoursome and will go again.
Received a lovely warm welcome by two young gentleman front of house lovely tables laid out and delicious food served
Lovely Sunday lunch . Great choice . Great staff. Cosy restaurant .
Sunday lunch with my husband, father-in-law and 4-year old grandson. It was our first time visiting the Chequers Inn at Elston. Lovely place, we found to be warm and welcoming. My father-in-law enjoyed his 3-course meal (loves his food), my husband ate everything because he was starving 😊 Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it half as much. There was too much food piled on the plate and this made it difficult to really get at the different elements of the meal. I was very disappointed with the tiny piece of crackling and my roast potatoes were a little soggy because they had other foods piled on top. I was also a little disappointed that they don't really cater for little ones. The "smaller" portions served up for "little ones" were huge and sadly wasted. It may be worthwhile offering a more child-friendly menu (at least 1 dish) for Sunday lunchtime. To summarise, venue was lovely, staff also lovely, but the food could have been better.
We love Sunday lunch at the Chequers, unfortunately the beef was rather overcooked and a bit grisly this week. Other than that it was very good. Always great service.
