We had an attentive staff member waiting on us. There was good choices on the menu, especially as my friend is vegetarian. It's some years that I have been there but the front restaurant is now darkly decorated - some may say atmospheric!

We are a group of cousins who try and meet up once a year. We find The Chestnut Horse is fairly central for us, one coming from Dorset, others from London and Berkshire The food was delicious and the waitress delightful.....and very helpful😊

Lovely venue. Been on a number of occassions over a number of years. Usually the food is top notch. Was slightly dissapointed on this occassion.

Really imaginative food, cooked perfectly. The best meal I’ve had for ages - streets ahead of any of Winchester’s “big name” restaurants; The Chestnut Horse is back to being as good, if not better, than it has ever been. And the proprietor could not have been more welcoming & accommodating. TOP MARKS ALL ROUND!

Delicious and beautifully presented food - a great improvement from recent years. Gather they have a new chef and it showed! Plenty of GF options too. Staff were efficient but not intrusive. Lovely to have such a lovely restaurant not far from us.

A lovely pub set in a beautiful setting. Outside area had plenty of tables with lots of shade too. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Looking forward to our next visit.

Another excellent experience! We were seated on arrival in the cool of the interior after being asked whether we would like to be seated outside. Drinks orders were taken before seating. Menu specials were explained by the very pleasant waitress. Food was fully up to the Chestnut Horse standard - an excellent Gazpacho soup for myself and wife followed by battered hake and buffalo burger. All cooked properly and hot! I booked on line at short notice this time, but there were no problems.

Great food, great service - but unfortunately the guests next to us, in the restaurant, were permitted to bring a large dog into the room. It periodically got in the way of the staff waiting on, and for the two of us closest to the dog, we could smell it... I don't believe that dogs should be allowed into your, or any other, restaurant. Really good food with quick service. They have a nice cosy bar area with an open fire plus a Resaurant area for when they are busy. Parking is easy with a tarmac car park. All in all a great village pub with food
