Really disappointed with the food and service. Booked on online and said it was a birthday for my 84 year old mum.(no mention of this when we were there) Normally really good food but certainly would not recommend going on a Sunday. Waitress was rude and not interested asked 3 times for our bread after she had asked us if we wanted some and even said to wait when I asked again. ( I thought you got bread anyway ? ) as it happened the bread was really hard and came after we finished our starters so was too late. . The roast potatoes were inedible they were so hard. No one asked if everything was ok but regret now not saying anything but was a bit shocked how bad it was. I have always really enjoyed it there but this was a waste of £100. My daughter also. Asked for vegetable lasagne only to be told a while later there was none left, good job she was not a veggie and just fancied it as nothing else on the menu was veggie. Very disappointed in what I thought would be a nice treat for my Mum.
Waited too long to be greeted and seated. Main courses acceptable but waited too long. Asked to see dessert board and then had to ask again. Desserts not acceptable as Cranberry and orange crumble hot on the outside and stone cold in the middle accompanying custard also cold - the homemade ice cream had a strange texture and absolutely no taste, was runny in the middle and the dessert was missing "shortbread biscuits" as per the menu. When my partner mentioned this to the waitress her response was to dismiss his comment with "oh". No hot milk with our coffee as requested. When paying my partner was asked to place his card in the machine, he did so and was ignored by the girl at the desk from that point on as she was engaged in a conversation with another of the waitresses - most discourteous and rude. So not a good experience at all.
This place ticks every box. Easy to book online, with a friendly reminder the day before. The venue is beautiful, both the shop full of gorgeous things and the lovely sitting space. The menu is extensive and exciting, even the children's menu is fabulous. The food was simply delicious and came quickly. The staff were attentive, polite and friendly. We sat and chatted for three hours and nobody rushed us at all. Perfect. We wil be back. Many thanks.
We haven't been for a number of years, but were delighted to find that the food was a good as ever, and the service efficient and friendly. We were there for a wedding anniversary meal and could not fault the experience. Thoroughly recommended
Very attentive staff and a pleasure to talk with. Always a delicious meal served in comfortable and stylish surroundings. Excellent background music enhances the atmosphere.
Fantastic Sunday lunch served by very friendly staff. Nice to look around their gift shop between courses. Well worth a visit even if it's just for a coffee stop.
