A more authentic version of Rules, this restaurant has an eclectic mix of customers from Shoreditch Hipsters to suited and booted City types. Excellent quality English cooking in authentic period surroundings. Recommended.

Service very good but certain items on menu not available. Three of us ordered strudels but only they only had two left. However prices are reasonable and Sunday roast very enjoyable.

A great restaurant, really traditional, warm cosy and great food. We had brunch which is served until 12 oclock which is a bonus. Would thoroughly recommend for Breakfast, Brunch, Afternoon tea and Dinner

Great ambiance and service, and they had reserved a booth for lunch which I specifically requested. Interesting daily specials and reasonable value for money for the location.

What can I say? The food is great, the atmosphere lively but relaxed the musicians are fabulous and the staff are kind, friendly and accommodating I love coming here for a great night out with friends

The food was excellent and piping hot. Well presented and decent size servings. Menu choice was also excellent. Although a pub style venue the food was definitely top restaurant quality.

We very much enjoyed our evening. The food was just right and the service professional but also relaxed in a nice way. Great atmosphere with live music. We all had fun. We sat in the large booth at the far end of the restaurant which was perfect for our birthday dinner. Good wine list by the way.

Excellent saturday breakfast. My Full English was as good as any I've ever had; my companion's Eggs Benedict was a revelation. The coffee was excellent. The ambience is wonderfully wood-panelly and the staff cheerful and friendly. Will definitely come back.

J'ai réservé ce restaurant de France par l'intermédiaire d'un site le recommandant (denis sever house que je recommande aussi à visiter). La surprise a été très bonne, nous étions à une table au calme, avons diné typiquement anglais (ce que nous recherchions) et de très bonne qualité. La somelière était française et nous a aidé dans nos choix.

Meeting up with old friends in the City, idea venue good drinks menu good food and a good price, waitress was pleasant and help with service and advice, would go back so thumbs up thank you for the evening.

got in at 8am and probably ordered the food by 8:15am and didnt get it until 8:45 and not many ppl was around sp service was quite slow only one of us requested the egg well done and all eggs were well done otherwise food was good

arrived 1 hour late to a place with warm feeling and friendly patient staff. afternoon tea was nice. thanks to all at the English Restaurant.

Busy & fun restaurant. Impressive wine list, great menu that changes to reflect the seasons. We really think this is one of London's special dinning opportunities!

Excellent food and service, good choice and value, well worth a visit

Particularly attentive staff, ready with a joke but never intrusive. If you ask them for a recommendation you can end up having a proper conversation about the fare on offer.

Great service - prompt and friendly! This time I ordered the blueberry pancakes, it's quite delicious but very rich . I couldn't finish it. Their latte is awesome as usual.
