The Fork In The Road

Upon arrival we were told that there was no salmon left for the starters of the Christmas menu which was fine, however when ordering the duck parfait instead was two pieces of pate with 3 slices of rock hard bread and some sort of orange marmalade thrown onto a plate. Was average at best. For main most of us ordered the turkey dinner which came Luke warm drizzled in a tiny bit of gravy with vegetables which were also hard. Another member of our party ordered the beef which was dry as sticks. When sorting the bill out (which had to be paid cash only so we All had to go to the cash machine to get money out) we were all over charged for our meals it then took around 20 minutes to sort the bill out. The girls who served were friendly however will not be returning

Great food and friendly efficient service. Pity that a table of 7 had to be so loud, thinking they were and acting as if they were in the Houses of Parliament, displaying no social awareness of other diners.

First time visit. Would recommend to others. Also very good value for money.

Lovely, lovely atmosphere. Maybe more blue cheese in the sauce but that could be just my preference. If anyone is contemplating what to get as a sweet, just go with the toffee pudding. best Ive ever had.

Everything about this restaurant is perfect. Staff are amazing and food is second to none.

To be honest we wanted to like this restaurant, we think the business model is fantastic. The service was friendly and quite efficient and the atmosphere was good. But the food needs to improve. Two of our party had steaks, the sirloin and the feather-blade. The sirloin was thin, tough and not presented rare as requested. The feather blade wasn’t recognisable as the tender, slow cooked cut it’s supposed to be, and it was also tough. The crab linguine was very heavy and stodgy. Only the cod and chips was really good enough. Hope the restaurant can turn it round and keep going.

It was lovely inside and we received a very warm welcome. It was quiet inside, however that didn’t change the kind of hospitality we received. The food was lovely and served at appropriate intervals. I will be going back for a meal. The set 3 course menu is great value for money and the portion sizers are just perfect. Thank you for having us this evening.

Excellent visit. We chose the three course set menu with a bottle of wine between two £26 great value. The chicken was delicious. Everybody’s food was great. Only slight criticism the child’s pizza was enormous which meant some waste but he loved it. Service was great. We will definitely be back again.

Myself & my friend went to have Sunday lunch. We were both so happy with our meals. The food was amazing and the staff are great 👍🏼 will definitely go back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to FIR on one of busiest days in boro (take that & orange pip).beautifully cooked fish, home made fish fingers too. Sorry we didnt have time to stay for dessert but there's always next time! Can highly recommend a visit.

On a plus the food and wine were lovely. Probably one of the nicest plates of food eaten in ages. However, the restaurant was so busy, we found the service a little poor. Took over 15 minutes to get a drink and a further 20 to order food.
