Decor is lovely and the staff friendly. It was very busy and took a long time to be served at the bar. Food was great although my pudding was disappointing because I ordered it with custard but the custard didn't arrive until 10 minutes after and when it did arrive was lukewarm and gloopy (can't have crumble without custard!) However overall we all had a great lunch experience and would recommend.
Food was great, staff were friendly and a nice atmosphere. Good value for money. Steak pie and chocolate brownie were lovely. Will be back again soon!
Good evening, with good between course entertainment for the boys. The food was good but not exciting. The waiting staff were very pleasant but did lack knowledge of the menu and drinks available. All in all a good experience.
Excellent food season was just perfect nott I salty ....huge Yorkshirep puddings and amazing gravy .....I also had a chocolateb brownie wow it was yummy
The greeting was very welcoming despite the restaurant being exceptionally busy . The service was great , food delicious with plenty of choice ; beef , gammon , turkey , salmon and chicken breast in a sauce . Dessert menu also looked fabulous . Overall lovely experience .
Food was very good. Service could have been better. We went into the bar first, and waited whilst the barman served other customers, in a queue. After a few minutes we were able to say we had made a booking to a female member of staff who suddenly appeared through the door. It was not obvious she was a member of staff (no uniform or badge) until she asked if she could help us. We said we had pre-booked a table and gave our name. She didn't acknowledge nor seemed interested in the fact we had pre-booked and said we should follow her. We were taken into the room opposite, directed to a table (no reservation sign evident) and she quickly disappeared, leaving us wondering what the system was. Do we buy drinks at the bar? Does she come back to take our drinks order? What if we wanted to order wine to have with our food (there was a wine list on the table)? Although staff were pleasant enough, the service just lacked the finer touches that would make you feel a valued customer and want to return. Yes, the food was very good -hot, plentiful choice of meats and vegetables, accompaniments and giant Yorkshire Puddings. We did not try out the desserts. Chef at the carvery was very polite, friendly and helpful.
Four of us had the carvery on saturday 9th January it was very nice if a little on the cold side, three of us had desserts, these were bought in but presented very nice. There was a nice feeling to the place and the lady that served us was very friendly. Will certainly return.
This is a Great family pub/restaurant we found by chance. It was excellent friendly service, excellent carvery food, good facilities for older children. We will return soon!
The George lacked character and atmosphere. The Sunday Lunch carvery was nothing out of the ordinary... Very disappointing as I was told The George had the best carvery in Harrogate.
only choice of two meats at carvery, roast potatoes and veg looked warmed up mashed potatoe good. Dessert did not seam fresh. My liquor coffee was awful
A very enjoyable meal with our family. Excellent.we shall definitely be visiting again soon.the car very was excellent and plentiful and that was topped off with a marvellous rhubarb crumble.
