Fabulous food, the yummiest roast in a cosy, warm pub, great service.

The George is hands down the best pub I have been to. The quality of food is excellent and is matched by fantastic service. Absolutely recommend it!

First time visiting before the Cathedral service in Chichester. Sunday roast at The George was recommended to me by a fellow traveller during a long train journey one afternoon. It did not disappoint. Delicious. Hot and tasty.

As always, excellent food, menu choice,ambience and service as well as Anita’s cheery presence.

Our first visit to the George (travelled 1.5 hours through atrocious weather for a friends reunion) and it was well worth the effort. A beautiful pub tastefully decorated with knowledgable friendly staff and excellent fresh food superbly cooked. The wine list was excellent and priced realistically too. We’re already planning our next reunion in the spring to have a walk and see the bluebells. Only disappointment was no dairy free milk alternative available with our coffee.

Lovely pub and good food and service. Would have been nice to have the fire lit in the end room as was a mega cold night so we were not warm to start with but otherwise was all excellent.

Everything about our dining experience last night was great. The couple we were with have been before but not for a long while. We also took other friends for lunch last month (they'd never been before) and they loved it and will definitely go back. Well done to The George and staff!

Always enjoy eating at this lovely, friendly and well run pub. Staff lovely and food always great.

Everything was really lovely. I was worried because we’d booked a table at 12:45 and it felt a bit early for lunch but everyone at the George was really relaxed and didn’t rush us at all that we ended up sitting at the table until 4pm. The gravy was incredibly rich and there was plenty of food with gorgeous pork belly, crispy roast potatoes, amazing roasted carrots and massive Yorkshire puddings. We were gutted to miss out on dessert but will definitely be back. All in all, a very enjoyable afternoon with lovely cocktails, delicious food and a great atmosphere.

It's been a while since I'd been and the menu is still a bit samey, and certainly the starters have shrunk and the cost increased, so it will remain a once in a while restaurant which is a shame

Lovely setting, great friendly service from the staff and amazing roast beef lunch! Huge portion, definitely need to arrive hungry! The ‘Sabbath Bloody Sabbath’ cocktails were delish and thoroughly recommend. Thank you.

A very pleasant atmonphere to have. lunch with good friends

The restaurant decor was lovely we especially loved the lighting. The food was lovely especially the pie of the day, ideal on a cold wet day! The Fish and Chips was lovely too. We will definitely return again soon!

We love the George, the menu choice, staff and the ambience is amazing. I had a delicious Venison Shepherds pie which I note quickly sold out. We had such an enjoyable evening, highly recommend. Just remember that they are closed on Tuesdays during the winter!

Very pleasant staff. Good service and my venison was very good but the crumble was a bit sweet.

Table booked for 12.45 for Sunday roast which arrived finally 1 hour 35 minutes later! We were warned that the food was running “a little late” but not that amount of time. When roasts finally arrived it was poor. Theorists were smothered in thick gravy . Didn’t taste much of anything just soppy food and the slow cooked roast pork was incredibly fatty and needed longer cooking. The staff apologised for lateness and said we wouldn’t have to pay because of the delay. However I wouldn’t have wanted to have paid full price in any event it was so poor and disappointing . We will definitely not be returning.

Absolutely lovely food and great staff. They were obviously very busy but it was worth the long wait!

It was a perfect venue for a special birthday lunch- great ,comfy surroundings and service and the food was delicious .
