We visited to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday, as he wanted a low key family celebration. The staff were super, we were located in a nice quiet alcove and, whilst the food was served promptly, we were not hassled to vacate the table. The food was, as always, delicious, even although they were very short staffed! Thank you to all the staff who made our visit so enjoyable.

Potatoes were cold and some of the vegetables over cooked and mooshy. Beef too pink and parts absolutely raw.

Fabulous Easter Sunday roasts, great service from the owners, food is amazing

Have been on two pervasive occasions And really enjoyed food and hospitality. This third visit was a total disappointment Food has definitely gone down. We all had chips which were not up to standard Two of us had katsu curry not good Was told there was no 6oz steak This was 7.30 on Saturday night. Disappointed will not visit again.

We had a family meal at The Golden Cross and could not fault the food, service or value. We all had beef roast dinners and they were exceptional. The quality of the meat was fantastic and cooked to perfection. The Yorkshire puddings were huge and delicious. The vegetables were plenty and a large selection too. We all had puddings and each one was delicious. Service was swift and the staff service was spot on. When the bill came we were more than happy with £30 a head including all of our drinks.

We had a lovely meal for my parents anniversary. The food was very tasty, especially the cottage pie. Which my husband has been talking about ever since. Small but very quaint eating area. Very clean. The two young men that served us were lovely. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. In fact I think they are a real asset to the pub. We felt so comfortable and valued. We live quite a distance away but will definitely return next time we visit Stratford.

Lovely meal with friends, we went for lunch and had 2 courses, everything was really nice and the service was good, very friendly and professional. Only comment is it was a bit cold should have taken a sweater, will do that next time

This was our first visit to the Golden Cross and we were very impressed by the quality of the food. No one could complain about the portions either, as my wife struggled to finish hers.

Great atmosphere food staff and place. Good varied menu excellent Xmas pud! Would definitely recommend this place.

Very draughty seat right by the door. Had to wear a scarf around my shoulders to keep warm. Busy day so no opportunity to move tables. Beef was chewy and no steak knife offered.

Menu is not "ordinary". Food is well cooked and presented. Staff members are friendly, polite and helpful. The room temperature was rather cool.
