The Italian Taste offers customers a true Italian experience without having to get on a plane and head to the Mediterranean. This proudly family-run restaurant, on Victoria Road in Surbiton, uses only ingredients they are passionate about and are proud to serve to you, such as fresh fish, squid, prawns and lobster hauled daily from Brixham Market. Using techniques clearly passed down from nonna, these ingredients become an array of authentic, delicious dishes that show a deep-rooted love and understanding of Mediterranean flavours. Without leaving London, be transported to the vibrant eateries of Bella Italia in The Italian Taste’s lively, casual dining area, where great food meets excellent wine, good company and hearty conversation as the only things of immediate importance.
A lovely meal as ever with just as lovely staff. This little slice of Italy only a stones throw away from Surbiton station is a Delious delight every time.
Great food and very friendly welcoming service. We had the specials of the day, which were innovative and tasty and good generous portion sizes. Good wine choice and nice complementary lemon cello which was a nice ending.
Great atmosphere. Excellent choice of menu. Fabulous service and amazing value. We have never had a bad meal at Italian Taste. Highly recommended to everyone
A fantastic evening great food friendly and very accommodating Staff will be returning.our guests really enjoyed the experience also.blah blah blah blah blah blah yummy.
We arranged a table here to celebrate our daughter's birthday. The lady who runs the restaurant during the day was so helpful and organised balloons and pretty confetti on the table and then also a candle in my daughter's dessert with singing! The service - as usual - was excellent. And the food authentic and fresh, just how we like it. They are also clued up about gluten-free diet, which is comforting as our daughter is a Coeliac. We also love the Gavi de Gavi at £29 per bottle. We will most certainly return, as each time we had dinner here, the 4 of us enjoyed it immensely.
Food was lovely but the service was slow - we were there for quite awhile before drinks were ordered and then food. We had to ask to order our food and drinks took some time to arrive after being ordered. We had also asked for the Christmas menu via the online booking as we were a party of 7. No one contacted us before hand to inform us that this menu doesn't start until the 5th December. When we queried it on the night one member of staff just looked blankly at me and the second went to speak to the manager but didn't come back with any further information or apology on their behalf. They also couldn't explain why were not told before hand. The information about the Christmas menu is on their website but doesn't state it doesn't start until the 5th (we dined on the 1st December). I would go back as it is a nice local restaurant and the food is good but maybe on a week night rather than a weekend.
Organised a small group booking for a friend's hen party. We all enjoyed incredible food and cocktails, the lovely, small, intimate setting, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Couldn't recommend The Italian Taste more highly.
Always a pleasant courteous experience. Food is consistently good. They serve very large portions, if you are extremely hungry you could manage a starter and main course (this is written by a woman). Otherwise, I would share a starter or go for dessert. The house wine is very good and reasonably priced. The staff are always helpful and engaging. The table d'hote menu offers a good variety of typical Italian fare with a good fish choice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this local restaurant.
VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE FOLLOWING: not getting the table we specifically requeted three weeks previously; being told there was already something not available from the menu as soon as we sat down (lobster); not having strawberries for one of your SPECIAL cocktails; not having one of the desserts on your menu (apple tart); having a napkin with a huge tear in it. This being said, the reason we enjoyed our experience was that the service was good, our guests were great company and we have to say the food is always absolutely delicious. It's a shame it was tarnished by the other obstacles.
Nice a la carte menu, with several additional specials . Good food. Attentive staff. Sensibly succinct wine list. Not cheap but reasonable price for the quality. Drawback is that many of the tables are too close together, unless you are a four on one of the round tables. Excellent that it is open all day too, so going in at off peak times or late afternoon is a good option. Overall a good experience albeit with one or two minor reservations.
