We went for our 5th Wedding Anniversary as we had enjoyed our last experience there before and wanted a special treat. As we have fond memories of our trip to Cape Town, we felt it was the right place to celebrate. The whole experience was fantastic, from the food and wine choice, to the waiting staff, who even with the restrictions did an excellent job. Would highly recommend

Excellent food & service. Have been to the St Michaels restaurant a number of times, this was just as good. Would have liked to try some different dishes but understand the limited menu is due to Covid 19. Would definately go back, Thankyou

Truly scrumptious. Brilliant atmosphere, absolutely fabulous service. They have really taken the COVID issue seriously. We felt so safe in this one of a kind restaurant. So lucky to have this in Lancaster. We’ll certainly be back very soon.

First visit and it won’t be the last. Very organised under current circumstances. The food was fantastic. The lamb curry said it was spicy and it was. Delicious. Shared a tasting board and this was perfect. Can’t wait to return.

Picked this restaurant because there were a few vegan options on the menu. Called the restaurant the day before and checked they were still available. Gentleman said the menu had changed but there would be some vegan options. Unfortunately there was no vegan main dish on the menu when we arrived although the chef did make us something which was ok. Felt a bit disappointed overall.

Our first meal out, since lockdown was lifted! Our meal was fantastic as always and it was lovely to have a bit of normality again. Amazing meals as always!!

The owner /host and waitress were amazing, very informative, nothing too much trouble, very pleasant and very attentive but not overly. Food was gorgeous, can't wait to sample from their full menu, we were a party of 4 diners and tried a lot of varied starters, mains and deserts from what was on offer. Truly great. Do NOT be put off from the external image, inside is truly amazing, great decor, art work and fabrics. Background music was in keeping and great. We all loved it. Thank you. Janice Byrne

The restaurant was booked up so nice and busy within the guidelines. It was great to see the business being supported despite all the covid stuff. The staff were attentive and accommodating, wearing visors and keeping to procedures. It felt very tentative. The staff were doing their best, but couldn't just be their natural selves, with visors making it harder to communicate, and constantly having spacing and guidelines on their minds. I'm sure however, things will become easier and more natural to manage. The food was outstanding. It was a reduced menu but there was still plenty to go at. We tried some dishes we hadn't seen before, and they were great. We discovered towards the end of our starter that a piece wasn't quite cooked through. The lady took it away to the kitchen and we discussed it (the rest of the course had been fine so I had no issues, and they have reviewed the fish's preparation. They were running a new menu and still making tweaks). Aside from that we had no issues and the quality of the rest of the food was fab. The Mad Hunter is fast becoming a favourite of ours, and no doubt we will be returning soon for another meal.

This has quickly become our favourite restaurant. We always have a great time here, it’s relaxed, friendly, good music, lovely food.

Nice restaurant, really enjoyed ourselves, a bit of a shame they didn't have more than one exotic meat for the steak. Also, they need to get a card machine that lets you leave a tip, I never carry cash anymore, so couldn't leave a tip.

Shown to our table and basically ignored. 25 mins later had to shout for service. Appreciate busy but we had booked. Disappointed. After making our feelings known, service was pretty good and food of a good quality but initial element took shine away.

A most enjoyable evening at the Mad Hunter. Food was excellent, staff were friendly and attentive and pleasant ambience.

Tried the mad hunter for something different and that’s what we got!. Friendly staff and a quirky African themed decor. The African food was great and the spices used are more for flavor and don’t blow your head off . All the food was cooked really well and good portion sizes with a good mix of taste and texture . All in all a great meal and place to eat.

The unique food and decor really stood out to us when looking for a restaurant for our anniversary. The staff were courteous and welcoming as soon as we arrived. Our dishes came swiftly with beautiful presentation and outstanding flavours that will KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF! Even though our visit was short our dining experience stood out as outstanding, this restaurant comes easily recommended to anyone looking for a great place to sit down and enjoy an evening of good music and FANTASTIC food.

This was our second visit and as before the menu was varied and exciting. The food was beautifully prepared and the service is excellent.
