You will find The Mermaid Burford perched right on High Street in the town centre, just a short drive from Oxford. Serving up European and British grub to locals, day-trippers and visitors from further afield, The Mermaid team are a creative and attentive bunch. Using only the finest and freshest locally-sourced produce with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options to beat the band (including traditional fish and chips done in a special gluten-free batter!), this spot is well worth a visit as you pass through the Cotswolds. What’s more, the stunning 15th century architecture features ancient beams, fittings, fireplaces and traditional stonework that really add to the rustic, countryside-feel of this excellent restaurant. Advance booking is highly recommended as this eatery is a popular destination for many.
Great food, my wife is a coeliac and they coped with GF more than adequately whilst the service was polite and attentive without being intrusive. Excellent ale! We recommend without hesitation.
Excellent service and great food. Although we arrived early the staff went out of their way to find us a seat for the less able bodied guests we had
Great food, staff and atmosphere very family and dog friendly. Recommend booking in advance if visiting at the weekend. Worth a visit on a Sunday for the amazing roast dinners.
Lovely pub, relaxing atmosphere, good choice of menu and always great food. Dog friendly. Quick service. Great location. Will be returning asap. Would highly reccomend.
Upstairs is the place to be as downstairs is a bit spartan. It was cosy and quaint, in a Cotswolds sort of way. The service was friendly and efficient and the goats cheese salad was really very good. They do a lot of unusual gins which we enjoyed.
Friendly staff, good pub food in unhurried atmosphere. The pub is hundreds of years old but serves food in line with modern taste - vegan, gluten-free options. We had both lunch and dinner there so feel well able to comment.
The service was good and had heard good things, unfortunately the food wasn’t, the steak was really fatty and the lamb wasn’t what would call a shank, left really disappointed. The staff were good and only charged for some of food and drinks so as said can’t fault staff at all, but think better to go for proper pub food there.
A nice meal with good service. The choice of beers wasn't extensive, but the main purpose of going to this place was to have a good meal, which we did.
Lovely bustling pub. We went to celebrate our daughters 21st. Nice atmospheric pub in the heart of a beautiful Cotswold town with friendly service and great food. Thank you.
Nice and cozy with good menu and friendly service. Would certainly recommend the restaurant to others and revisit when next in the area. Most enjoyable meal
