Bringing inner-city chic to Wells Street in Yeadon, The Moon & Sixpence is a classy eatery with very few equals in this area when it comes to style. Decked out with modern furniture, low-hanging industrial lighting and painted exposed brick walls, The Moon & Sixpence is a place bound to impress any first date, prospective business partners or that special someone celebrating a milestone with its setting alone. However, what takes the impact of The Moon & Sixpence from ‘impressive’ to ‘stunning’ is the refined British and European cuisine on offer.
From chicken liver, sherry and balsamic parfait on toasted Italian crostini to a crunchy French crème brûlée served with lavender shortbread, Yeadon’s The Moon & Sixpence has exquisite European fare covered from start to finish. Of course in among all that is a procession of supreme British dishes, like the best traditional roast spring lamb you can imagine, served with seasonal vegetables, homemade Yorkshire pudding and a rich gravy, or a simple (but simply outstanding) roast ham open sandwich with whole grain mustard. Just a short trip from Leeds Bradford Airport on Wells Street in Yeadon, The Moon & Sixpence is well worth a special trip – and an absolute must-try for anybody already in the area.
Amazing food and the service is fantastic. I was sceptical after reading some of the reviews but all I can say is try it for yourself you will not be disopointed. We have been a few times now and it's always great
First visit .... excellent Sunday lunch ! Really fresh food and excellent service .... went back the following Saturday night and once again excellent . Really hope this place survives as it's a great addition to the area .
Such a relaxing environment and delicious food. We had such a warm welcome. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a romantic meal or get together with friends and family.
Lovely food, friendly staff. Well worth a visit. Delicious mojito aperitif! Beautiful surroundings and good service. I shall be making it one of my regular haunts.
Although the owners must have spent a great deal of money to convert this pub into the Moon and Sixpence and the decor was lovely and the service was good, sadly I'm afraid there wasn't much else to recommend this restaurant. My party went at 8.30pm on a Saturday night and I think we were one of only 5 tables occupied. My friend's prawn cocktail starter had no sauce in it whatsoever - she had to ask for some and my main dish, seafood linguine, was overcooked. In addition, there was far too much linguine and not enough seafood. My other two friends had the haddock and chips - the chips were soggy and the fish was all batter and very little fish. We didn't bother with dessert. Our overall opinion of this restaurant is that it is in completely the wrong location and the food is at best, mediocre. Personally, given how quiet it was on the Saturday night that I was there, I don't think it will last past Christmas . . . . if it even lasts that long!
We enjoyed our night out eating here. Lovely decor and pleasant atmosphere, however, we felt it isn't the kind of restaurant it thinks it is. It really needs a few more "special" touches, for example making sure it has everything on the menu so as not to disappoint, making sure you are acknowledged when you enter the restaurant and ensuring the toilets sinks are working properly and stop them overflowing so customers are not having to wade through puddles of water whilst visiting the toilet (very disconcerting when your dining) To name but a few. Overall though we would go again and recommend it to family and friends. It''s better than average pub food served in a lovely looking venue by helpful staff.
We have been to The Moon and Sixpence several times and we really enjoy our evenings when we go. The food and the surroundings are delightful but what makes the evening special are the staff. We would not hesitate to recommend this new restaurant but keep it to yourself - don't tell too many people, as we may not get a table next time.
We had a lovely meal at Moon & Sixpence last Saturday with good food and service - in fact the service was faultless. We were feeling a little cold when we arrived so the fan next to us was turned off and the door closed, this was done without complaint and we spent the rest of the evening comfortably. I have already recommended it to our friends and will certainly be back.
It was our first visit to The Moon and Sixpence since its new opening. We were greeted by friendly polite staff. The menu isnt overly fussy but the food is fantastic. Starter great. Main great. Pudding.......although i would have liked to see a cheescake.......still great. We will definately be returning in the near future. Thankyou for a lovely evening.
I went with two friends as we were staying nearby and it was recommended by our landlady. The service was superb and the food was excellent ..the room was delightful, modern airy and warm.a lovely experience. We were well looked after. A restaurant we will come back to. The food was great value for money.a relaxing evening with friends.
Beautiful decor, friendly efficient staff, good choice of beers and wine, tasty creatively presented food. My sea bass was wonderfully cooked and seasoned. Slow cooked beef was melt in the mouth delicious. Will definitely be returning. My only criticism was I would have preferred my onion soup to have been blitzed as too many floating onions isn't to my taste, just a personal preference.
Warm friendly welcome into the newly opened restaurant. Positives: table is yours for the night so no pressure to eat and move on. Nice relaxed atmosphere with attentive staff. Food well presented and delicious Negatives: long wait for starters to arrive (40mins) Quite prices for out of Leeds place (need to be careful they don't out price themselves) Would recommend
Booked online but when we arrived there was no booking i had to prove with my E Mail made me look stupid i had slow cooked beef with dumplin not cooked and cold. The lighting was too bright for the resturant it needs to turned down notch to give that cosy feeling. On the good side the staff were very freindly and the food was good apart from the dumplin.
Very good food ,excellent service, atmosphere very chilled and relaxed. Would defiantly recommend . we had the offer menu 3 courses for £15 each course was excellent the staff gave very good recommendation s nothing was too much trouble. We will defiantly be going back .
It was lovely, the atmosphere, the staff the food was all lovely. I went with my husband for my birthday and the chef made a happy birthday message out of chocolate sauce on my pudding - would certainly recommend xx
Delicious food! This was my second visit, first was in the evening, this was lunchtime. I will definitely return. Service was good and surrounding are beautiful. Rather quiet at lunchtime, but I guess people just don't know what they're missing!
This restaurant has changed enormously for the better since our first visit .the food was excellent and the staff very attentive and friendly .the only snag was we ordered cheese and unfortunately still hadn't arrived by the time the coffees were finished and we had to cancel it
A perfect night out. Warm welcome, friendly staff, absolutely superb food, beautiful presented. The transformation of these premises has to be seen to be believed. A big thank you to owners, and staff, we will certainly return.
Our first visit and we will definitely return. Had the Sunday lunch which was beautiful , great quality meat . Very friendly staff who couldn't do enough to make sure we all enjoyed the meal .
Restaurant is top class, very modern and beautiful set out, unfortunately there was a mix up with four of our starters, which was resolved quickly. Also this is our third visit and we have chosen most of the menu choices available so we will wait until the menu changes before our next visit
