About The Mumbai Mansion
With a mission to revolutionise Indian cuisine in Edinburgh, The Mumbai Mansion is a restaurant whose Morrison Street address the city’s curious gourmets need to visit. The UK is awash with curry houses, but few go above and beyond the standard mandate of old favourites, balti and sundries. Here in the midst of the bustling precinct around Haymarket, The MUmbai Mansion takes a far more experimental and modern approach to the ancient culinary arts of South Asia. Express business are a hot ticket here and, besides an innovative a la carte menu, perhaps the best way to get acquainted with The Mumbai Mansion is to go for the dinner tasting menu for two or more people. Highlights include delicacies such as scallops and mussels tossed in a Nilghiri sauce, Scottish lobster served with an Alappy-style moilee sauce, spiced sweetcorn and pea kebabs finished on the tawa grill, and the lamb mince, ricotta and tarragon shami kebab.

We have eaten in the Mumbai mansion many times and have always had a great meal. The service is good and the staff are very attentive. Well worth a visit.
Great restaurant with excellent customer service. We come to this restaurant quite a lot - we thinks it's one of the best Indian restaurants in Edinburgh.
This was our second visit. The first was a while back when the restaurant was fairly new on the scene. The food is still magnificent, the atmosphere is great and the staff are just wonderful. We were delighted to see that the young man who runs the operation is still as enthusiastic now as he was during our first visit. The interest the staff have in the food is a wonderful thing. A wonderful experience. I would be there all the time if I lived closer to it.
Best Indian food I have tasted. Staff were very kind and helpful. Very busy but staff were attentive and seen to all of our needs. Amazing. Noisy but it was the rugby crowd.
My family and I love this restaurant. Because they don't cook using butter or fat, the food is surprisingly light. Also the menu covers a wider range of dishes than one would normally find in your ordinary Indian restaurant. Here you will find friendly staff, white linen tablecloths, and a good wine list. The Mumbai Mansion gets a thumbs-up from us.
Lovely restaurant buzzing with atmosphere and in a great location. Staff welcoming and food was of a really high standard, beautifully cooked and extremely tasty. In fact I'd say Some of the best Indian food I've ever tasted. Only shame was after we finished the main course around 9pm they cleared away the plates and table mats and bought the face towels over and assumed we had finished without offering coffees or deserts, so we went with the flow, settled the bill and left. Shame as the desserts on the taster menu sounded rather tasty and I always enjoy a coffee after dinner.
We usually love this restaurant, but we booked for a curry after an international rugby match at Murrayfield - as had lots of other people. The service was rather chaotic, there was a limited "post-rugby" menu, and we had to leave as soon as we had finished eating (no time for another drink or coffee) as they needed the table back for the queue of people at the door. So not up to its usual standards, but we plan to give it another go.
I booked this for a birthday meal as I had been before & enjoyed it. The food was good enough but the service left a lot to be desired. Once the waiter found out the couple next to us was Belgian, he spent the rest off the night chatting to them in Belgian ( he'd obviously spent some time there) and we got ignored. When we finished our main course he brought hot towels for our hands and took our place mats away! We didn't get offered the chance of buying another drink, deserts or coffees so we just got the bill & left. Really disappointed and don't think we'll be back.
Nicely decorated restaurant, welcoming. Excellent menu, with interesting options, not at all the usual stuff. Pea and sweetcorn kebabs to start were delicious. Tandoori prawns with sag aloo were also well cooked and beautifully presented. The star of the show was the mango trio of puddings, just wonderful. Service was rather chaotic and a bit slow. Not cheap, but worth the extra.
The food was excellent and there was a different choice compared to standard Indian restaurants. This made for a better experience than we had expectd. the service was good as well - the only drawback was the selection of beers available, Cobra, Peroni and Corona was the only choice.
Really nice food , have been a few times and the standard of cuisine is always top notch. If you decide to book and you like your indian food then the Mumbai Mansion wont let you down.
restaurant was recomended to me , was not let down , found lunch menu to be very fairly priced , food was excellent , service was also excellent and will certainly return again
Deliciously fresh and tasty Indian food. If you are in Edinburghand want to taste the best Indian food with the best service you should go here. It's that simple!
Excellent as usual. The food and service came up to it's usual standard The prawns. lamb chops and spicy mushrooms all gave a nice little kick but not overpowering.
Excellent in all ways. Friendly staff, delicious meal, well presented and neither too speedy or too slow. Will definately go back again - this was our fourth time there.
Wasn't great don't get poppadoms unless you ask for them and and felt the curries weren't to the standard they should be in curry gravy with added spices and colourants. The staff offered us a free drink which is why I put three stars and they were nice but I just thought the curry let them down.
Great food and service! Would 100% go back! Friendly staff and the menu was really diverse (something for everyone) and wasn't expensive! Overall very happy with my meal!
Nice to see the restaurant busy as it deserves to do well. Staff were efficient and courteous. Food delicious although portions quite small. The mango trio for pudding was a delight as ever!
Great food, good service. I would Highly recommended but as quite small would suggest to book ahead. 5 min walk from hay market station and train stop.
This was my first visit to Mumbai Mansion. The food was great and the service was good. I'll definitely be back for another visit. Thanks Mumbai Mansion
All-in-all a great experience. Mumbai Mansion is a lovely looking restaurant and great service with amazing food. Will definitely go again and bring friends and family along.
Thoroughly enjoyed the meal with three other friends. Excellent service, great food - highly recommended. Almost certainly wil be back in future, very good value .
If you're looking for fab evening with great service and good food I would recommend Mumbia Mansion. We had a table for four, will defiantly return.
As always good food and a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The menu has been reduced since my last visit, but still plenty to choose from. Something for everyone.
Best ever biryani.spot on tasting menu. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was just right. We will most certainly return for another gastro evening. Thanks.
Great food and service with decent service time. Good atmosphere as well and we felt very welcomed. Will be returning as soon as we can
The food was really nice and the staff were lovely. The waiter was really helpful and made sure everything was perfect as well as giving good recommendations for food.
Came recommended to us and pleased it lived up to expectations. Really tasty food and enjoyed having a platter of starters so you get to try more dishes.
Excellent food and service at a reasonable price. We were served quickly, very good standard of hygiene. We would highly recommend the Mumbai Mansion for an enjoyable meal.
Food great, good surroundings and friendly helpful staff. A whole range of things on the menu to help with choice for meat or vegetarian. Fish was excellent
Lovely decor (fabulous light fittings), good food and attentive service at this central Indian restaurant. A few more vegetarian options would make this restaurant perfect.
Love the food here and one of the waiters is really friendly and always makes us feel one.Nice to be remembered. We'll definitely be back.
Restaurant was very good, with prompt and attentive service and had a wide choice of dishes to choose from. All my guests enjoyed their meal and would recommend going back.
Great food but patchy service. Had to ask 3 times for some tap water which was finally brought with bad grace. Complimentary desserts were a nice touch though.
Amazing food but was closed down while we were there by immigration officers!! We then had to leave and many people did not get their food!
Food was really very good, but they couldn't get us in and out quickly enough. So it wasn't the relaxed evening out we'd hoped for.
They lost our order for main courses and we waited over an hour for our mains. Very little apology or explanation. We seemed to be an inconvienance. Sadly we will not be returning.
