About The Mumbai Mansion
With a mission to revolutionise Indian cuisine in Edinburgh, The Mumbai Mansion is a restaurant whose Morrison Street address the city’s curious gourmets need to visit. The UK is awash with curry houses, but few go above and beyond the standard mandate of old favourites, balti and sundries. Here in the midst of the bustling precinct around Haymarket, The MUmbai Mansion takes a far more experimental and modern approach to the ancient culinary arts of South Asia. Express business are a hot ticket here and, besides an innovative a la carte menu, perhaps the best way to get acquainted with The Mumbai Mansion is to go for the dinner tasting menu for two or more people. Highlights include delicacies such as scallops and mussels tossed in a Nilghiri sauce, Scottish lobster served with an Alappy-style moilee sauce, spiced sweetcorn and pea kebabs finished on the tawa grill, and the lamb mince, ricotta and tarragon shami kebab.

Best Indian in Edinburgh / its value for money every time.
Great food, great service. Business lunch menu very good value.
This is the first time we have been to Mumbai Mansion and believe it is the best Indian food we have tasted in Edinburgh. To complete the experience the service is also exceptional and the food is reasonably priced so we will definitely return again.
Fantastic meal full of flavour- best chicken pakora yet! Service was second to none. Choices were superb. Restaurant was immaculate and toilet facilities excellent. My wife liked the added touch of hand moisturiser in the toilets!!
My family and I love this restaurant. Because they don't cook using butter or fat, the food is surprisingly light. Also the menu covers a wider range of dishes than one would normally find in your ordinary Indian restaurant. Here you will find friendly staff, white linen tablecloths, and a good wine list. The Mumbai Mansion gets a thumbs-up from us.
This was our second visit. The first was a while back when the restaurant was fairly new on the scene. The food is still magnificent, the atmosphere is great and the staff are just wonderful. We were delighted to see that the young man who runs the operation is still as enthusiastic now as he was during our first visit. The interest the staff have in the food is a wonderful thing. A wonderful experience. I would be there all the time if I lived closer to it.
Lovely restaurant buzzing with atmosphere and in a great location. Staff welcoming and food was of a really high standard, beautifully cooked and extremely tasty. In fact I'd say Some of the best Indian food I've ever tasted. Only shame was after we finished the main course around 9pm they cleared away the plates and table mats and bought the face towels over and assumed we had finished without offering coffees or deserts, so we went with the flow, settled the bill and left. Shame as the desserts on the taster menu sounded rather tasty and I always enjoy a coffee after dinner.
I booked this for a birthday meal as I had been before & enjoyed it. The food was good enough but the service left a lot to be desired. Once the waiter found out the couple next to us was Belgian, he spent the rest off the night chatting to them in Belgian ( he'd obviously spent some time there) and we got ignored. When we finished our main course he brought hot towels for our hands and took our place mats away! We didn't get offered the chance of buying another drink, deserts or coffees so we just got the bill & left. Really disappointed and don't think we'll be back.
We usually love this restaurant, but we booked for a curry after an international rugby match at Murrayfield - as had lots of other people. The service was rather chaotic, there was a limited "post-rugby" menu, and we had to leave as soon as we had finished eating (no time for another drink or coffee) as they needed the table back for the queue of people at the door. So not up to its usual standards, but we plan to give it another go.
Nicely decorated restaurant, welcoming. Excellent menu, with interesting options, not at all the usual stuff. Pea and sweetcorn kebabs to start were delicious. Tandoori prawns with sag aloo were also well cooked and beautifully presented. The star of the show was the mango trio of puddings, just wonderful. Service was rather chaotic and a bit slow. Not cheap, but worth the extra.
The food was excellent and there was a different choice compared to standard Indian restaurants. This made for a better experience than we had expectd. the service was good as well - the only drawback was the selection of beers available, Cobra, Peroni and Corona was the only choice.
Really nice food , have been a few times and the standard of cuisine is always top notch. If you decide to book and you like your indian food then the Mumbai Mansion wont let you down.
restaurant was recomended to me , was not let down , found lunch menu to be very fairly priced , food was excellent , service was also excellent and will certainly return again
Best Indian food I have tasted. Staff were very kind and helpful. Very busy but staff were attentive and seen to all of our needs. Amazing. Noisy but it was the rugby crowd.
We have eaten in the Mumbai mansion many times and have always had a great meal. The service is good and the staff are very attentive. Well worth a visit.
Deliciously fresh and tasty Indian food. If you are in Edinburghand want to taste the best Indian food with the best service you should go here. It's that simple!
Excellent in all ways. Friendly staff, delicious meal, well presented and neither too speedy or too slow. Will definately go back again - this was our fourth time there.
Excellent as usual. The food and service came up to it's usual standard The prawns. lamb chops and spicy mushrooms all gave a nice little kick but not overpowering.
Wasn't great don't get poppadoms unless you ask for them and and felt the curries weren't to the standard they should be in curry gravy with added spices and colourants. The staff offered us a free drink which is why I put three stars and they were nice but I just thought the curry let them down.
Lovely restaurant, quite a few dishes different from other Indian restaurants. Food was delicious, service was fantastic. Timing for food etc was perfect. Will definitely be back again.
