Within sight of the historic Micklegate Bar near the ancient city walls of York, The Old Siam brings the venerable cuisine of Southeast Asia and Thailand to the bustling city centre’s ‘Micklegate Run’ (and it has a sibling restaurant in Newcastle). This traditional restaurant offers traditional, home-cooked Thai cuisine, offering a balance of nuanced and delicate and hot and spicy meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes. Consistently ranked among the top restaurants in York – and a great alternative to the curry houses along Micklegate if you’re out and about – booking in for lunch and dinner at The Old Siam is a must. Go for a set menu or the spicy pla ma-naow – steamed fish served in a spicy delicious lemon and chilli sauce.
Great little gem of a restraunt. Food was fantastic especially the mixed starter and Thai red curry. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Good selection of food on the menu
Good service. Pleasant ambiance and very good english Thai food - that is to say less spicy than Bangkok . Good value for money .
It was really busy but the food order was taken promptly and the food was delicious. If in York again we would return. It was just around the corner from our hotel.
