The Plough Inn is the archetypal British country pub with defiantly atypical pub food. Housed in a 16th-century inn at Leadmill in Hathersage, this Derbyshire landmark seems straight out of a postcard, surrounded by 9 acres of lush land sloping towards the River Derwent. Enjoy a refreshing ale (we recommend the local Bradfield Brewery) in the courtyard or cosy beer garden, though in the winter there are two log burners inside to cosy up beside. Even with this magical setting, what truly makes The Plough Inn special is its menu. Championing seasonal, British produce at every turn, The Plough Inn twists some pub classics into their own incredible creations. Though changing frequently, the menu at Hathersage’s The Plough Inn often features refined British standards (the steak and kidney pudding is particularly heartwarming, as is their eponymous steak sandwich with smoked applewood cheese) alongside European items like homemade double confit terrine of pork and thin-crust Italian pizzas.
Great location, wonderful food & ale, top service! Range & quality of food was impressive. Beef & ale pudding was to die for! We’ll certainly be back when up in this gorgeous part of England in the future.
Friendly welcome, good service, tasty food and genuinely dog-friendly. Prices are reasonable, and the pub is in a good location for nearby walks and sights.
A traditional Derbyshire Inn which serves consistently good and imaginative food in a cosy and friendly atmosphere. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!
