The Priest Hole

Gorgeous food (Sunday lunches and a sausage sandwich with fries), great beer and lovely staff, what more could you ask for? Highly recommend The Priest Hole. We came last year too and if anything it's better than we remembered.

Great food and excellent service. A wonderful little place to relax after a day by the lake.

Great visit to the Priest Hole. Every member of staff who visited our table were excellent. Excellent service and food. Really nice inside. Loved the history of the place which one of the gentleman serving told us about and then gave us a postcard about it!! Just fab- loved it but book ahead! *****

Excellent food as always and the friendliest staff. It’s always a complete pleasure to come back to the Priest Hole and no visit to the Lakes would be complete without it.

We were looking forward to returning to the Priest Hole as we visit every time we are in the area. The food was as good as ever the atmosphere friendly and service was great, it is sad to know a lot of the regular staff have not made it back to work after Covid but the staff there made the experience just as good as ever. I would heartily recommend the Priest Hole to anyone looking for good value amazing honest food.

Excellent service from both members of staff serving made this experience. Tasty food and wine. High standards of hygiene made us feel very COVID safe.

The service was wonderful and the atmosphere in the restaurant was really nice but what made the visit was the food which was fabulous. I enjoyed the visit so much that I booked a table for the following evening.

Good food and felt very safe eating there as they clean the chairs and tables unlike many places that clean only the tables

Tasty food. Speedy service. Warm n pleasant atmosphere. I ate veggie & enjoyed falafel burger after our starter of mixed olives. Too full for pud!

Ordered the pie and the crust was rock hard and the meat on the edge of was dry. It must have kept warm under a lamp and dried out. Shame the meat inside was great quality. 😟☹🥺

We were a party of 7 celebrating my 60th two day stay in Ambleside. Service was good but meals awful especially Fish & Chips dread-full☹️ Rubbery Fish Chips woody “sorry I never complained but didn't want too make worse of a very disappointing meal . Would certainly not recommend 🙋‍♀️.

Obviously we are in Covid -19 times and eating out is a very different experience to what it use to be. This was our 1st meal out and I thought the staff coped very well with the changes and the food was as good as ever 😃👍

Staff had face coverings, and social distance was in place , excellent food would highly recommend

Wasn’t sure what to expect with the current situation and guidelines but we got our table on time. Really enjoyed our food. It’s clear the staff are doing everything they can in somewhat bizarre circumstances. We’re heading back to Ambleside next month and will be looking to book in again.

Booked for Sunday lunch, unfortunately there was no vegetarian roast option but I had the falafel burger which was nice and my daughter had the roast lamb and said it was good

This was our first meal out post lockdown (not our first time dining at The Priest Hole though) and we couldn't have asked for any more. The food was outstanding and the staff were amazing even when dealing with all the new challenges of social distancing and wearing face masks, they took everything in their stride and Tracey who looked after us was just lovely. We will definitely be back soon and would recommend the restaurant highly to anyone staying in the area xx

The meal was one of the best I've had The staff were all very friendly and helpful .We all have to make some changes since coronavirus but if places like this stay open then the future will be a little brighter.

We went for the steak night and whilst the choice was reduced we still found what we wanted. The tables were well spaced and we felt safe the whole time The steaks were fantastic and we still found room for deserts which were also very good and a good side. The service was excellent and our waitress made us feel most welcome. Overall a great evening and we will be going back again
