Nice food and a friendly team, we really enjoyed it.
One of Ambleside’s best! The Sunday Roast is a feast and highly recommended. We both had succulent slices of sirloin with mash and roast potatoes and a selection of vegetables. The Yorkshire pudding was crisp and fluffy. For ‘afters’ rhubarb crumble and extremely creamy custard didn’t disappoint. Great value and we’ll be back next time…
Lovely food, very tasty and totally good value for money!!
Fourth time we've visited the Priest hole while on holiday in Ambleside. Lovely Sunday Lunch pork and lamb with loads of tender meat and great selection if fresh vegetables. Red wine great too. Main meal so large we couldn't manage a dessert but would definitely recommend a visit to this great restaurant. Great service and staff and would definitely recommend a visit when in Ambleside x
Comfortable environment, friendly staff. We had Fish and chips and Steak and Ale pie with mash. Both good.
Excellent staff. Prompt service. Big, tasty portions. All at a fair price. Well worth a visit.
Have eaten here previously and wanted the family to experience the food. So disappointed with the Sunday roast, Meat was dry and difficult to chew, yorkshires were overcooked yet soggy. Won’t be returning.
Great service good food would use again if in the area
Went on the Thursday 'Steak Night' and enjoyed 2 amazing plates of food and a bottle of wine for a very good price.
Arrived late so a bit quiet but the food was delicious and well proportioned. Good service but probably best to go earlier to get the ambiance
Great food and service here - I would recommend a visit.
Excellent food & service. Staff very friendly & obliging. Will def come again.
Excellent service, amazing food and drink. Thank you so much.
Great food as always but took 15 mins from entering to get a menu. Then when the menu was brought we were not asked if we wanted a drink. When we did order that was the only drink we had in the hour and a half we were there. Disappointed as every time we have been previously the service has been fantastic.
We had a fabulous meal. We went on fish night and the halibut was the best we had ever had. Stupendous. You read about a perfectly balanced plate of food but this was the real deal, with the succulent, juicy fish the star of the show. The warm welcome, service and quaint, atmospheric vibe of the historical rooms we are keen to experience again.
Food very good & friendly staff. Would definitely come again.
Lovely roast dinner ,generous portion of pork. Soup starter was very tasty.
Was lovely, the food was amazing and staff really friendly.
Although we arrive early we waited 40 for someone to take a drinks order drinks took 15 mins to arrive food took bit longer the food was tasty but no table check and when finishing we waited 30 mins no one came over to clear the table so I just paid the bill at the bar very disappointed
Starters and desserts were good but roast beef was fatty and not much meat on it. The rest of the main course was very nice. Nice place and staff were helpful .
Good tasty food and plenty of it. Expensive wine though.
Had to remind staff about our order of olives which were tasteless. Lamb steak was dreadful. Tasteless and largely fat. Considering that we were in Ambleside I was very disappointed.
The food was freshly made and very nice and flavoursome.
Good food. Much better than the typical tourist resort fare you expect in a place like Ambleside.
Easy to book. Easy to find. Speedy and jovial service. And the food was plentiful and delicious. We had fabulous steak pies and a medium steak both of which were delightful. Watch out for the enormous onion rings. No room for dessert on this occasion. A fine bottle of Shiraz was enjoyed.
A restaurant that had run out of everything. Did not inform us in advance, took at least 30 minutes after our arrival to inform us. Could have at least phoned to tell us. Totally unacceptable
We have been before and the Sunday roast was amazing but on this occasion it was Luke warm we waited quite a while between starter and main and we were so hungry we ate it anyway
Good food. Not amazing, a little overpriced. Nice atmosphere, welcoming staff
First visit to the Priest Hole. Will return. Staff were friendly and hard working as it was very busy. Food arrived looking very appetizing. We all had a wonderful meal. Thank you
Food good, service poor had to go to the serving counter to order drinks as no one checking with wether we required them
we have booked here many times over the years but was a little dissapointed this time as we arrived on the dot at 6pm like your guidline asks but after we were given a table we had to wait over 20 mins before we recived a drink and that is only because i went to the bar to ask for service ,our poor table attendent was rushed off her feet as it was busy for a weekday evening it would be better if more staff had been on but overall the food was very good when it arrived.
My friends were a little dull and it had rained all day like that abba song
Me and my wife both had the steak and with that a free bottle of red, followed by to sweets great food & service.
Great service highly recommend, food was very tasty will return
The service was good, but the Sunday Lunch very disappointing.
Pie night for the 6 of us and it was all well cooked, generous portions and very tasty! Service was friendly and unfussy, everyone knew what they were doing.
The food was delicious and the environment was lovely, good service.
As always, a fabulous atmosphere, with delicious food and wonderful service.
A lovely evening with great food. Service was good and I would recommend. We will return next time we are in the Lakes.
Very Nice visit but the table was close to the door and so it was rather cold. Would have rather been elsewhere in the restaurant. Large table near to us were rather noisy which rather spoiled the valentines atmosphere
