Finding an Italian restaurant in the bonny Edinburgh district of Bonnington has never been easier. You don’t need a truffle-sensitive hog, you simply need to wake up, smell the roses, and head to the Roamin’ Nose on Eyre Place. Homemade Italian dishes, Italian espresso and that crucial component, wine, are all on the cards here, and the restaurant itself is as stylish as they come. For lunch, get yourself Scottish smoked salmon with fennel slaw and leafy greens on a Germagrain bread with Roamin’ Nose’s house chips and salad or the hearty Roamin’ burger. The Italian tang really comes into its own come the evening, with premium sausages and pied de mutton mushrooms stewed in a tomato sauce with pecorino Romana and served on polenta. For a fruity vegetarian hit, go for the fig risotto with wild fennel seeds, tarragon, parsley and pecorino, and don’t forget to check the boards for the daily specials.
For us one of the best places in Edinburgh! We always make a special effort to go when visiting. The quality of ingredients and balance of flavours , choice of wines, the caring service and general feel. A real gem :)
The food was beautiful, small menu but really good quality ingredients. The service and atmosphere is perfect, small & quiet which is exactly what we needed after a day at the rugby.
The sharing board to start was fantastic, featuring the best coppa I've tasted. The mains were all delicious - I know, because I got a taste of everyone else's! My lamb, served with spinach and sweet potato, was great, and the calves' liver risotto got top marks. We had the Primitivo, which went down very well, and the atmosphere and service were lovely too!
