The Rose Garden Restaurant

Considering there was a party of 30 booked at same time and they were a waiter/waitress down due to sickness, the 2 young girls taking our order and serving were brilliant! Food was great. Will be returning.

A delicious Sunday roast at The Rose Garden with friends. Great food, great service and very welcoming staff. Have been before and will be returning again. Definitely recommend.

Good food and good value for money. Little bit noisy but that’s the only downside and it didn’t spoil our meal proved by empty plates.

At lunchtime on a Saturday we were the only diners for the first hour. Chef undoubtedly very talented and everything freshly cooked and beautifully presented. However, for our taste, too many flavours on the same plate. I had Chicken Wellington. The Gratin Potatoes had a cheese sauce, the mushrooms were in a sauce, the carrots were glazed with a sprinkle of what I think were coriander seeds, there was a little portion of ratatouille and the Wellington itself had a lot of highly flavoured pate. All individually delicious but overwhelming on the same plate and sadly I left at least half of it. Also didn’t like the tarragon which had been used liberally. Husband had fish and said tarragon had been used there too. It’s almost as if chef wants to show what he can do....all at once. This is such a shame. I don’t dare think what could be done to plain ham, egg and chips which is also on the menu. Sadly, we won’t go back but we DO recommend but not everyone wants the plainer food which is our preference.

I dined with a friend of mine and everything was perfect. She and her partner live in Colchester and have been to you twice with family since I first took them there in June. Praise indeed.

Lovely relaxing atmosphere- very nice meal - Roast was super, great veg selection and cooked nicely, crispy real roast potatoes. Although a carvery extremely pleasant, plenty of meat, asked if you had enough - staff served the elderly customers. Very friendly staff.

Spotlessy clean resturant, service brilliant, waitresses very friendly and helpful and the food was outstanding. Fantastic resturant, will be going back again. Highly recommended.

We were allocated a very nice table by the window. The restaurant was a little on the cold side - recent drop in temperature probably didn't help. Only one lady serving, she was very polite but not as attentive as I would have liked. Food was excellent and I felt good value for money.

My wife and I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary with a visit to The Rose Garden. This was our first experience of a la carte dining and we were not disappointed. Our starters of pan fried king prawns were meaty and succulent and my fillet of beef the best I have ever tasted. My wife chose the pan fried sea bass which was cooked to perfection and the accompanying vegetables were delicious. We will definitely be visiting again.

We have been to this restaurant several times, but today was our first Sunday lunch. Great food and service as always - we will certainly be back again.

Excellent food at a very reasonable price. Service is leisurely but it's nice not to be rushed. Good range of meals to choose from. Very friendly service.

First time I have visited the Rose Garden but I was not disappointed, the food was great and good service

very good, food, cleanliness, waitress service, good value for money.

Overall good. Ambiance a little flat. Probably due to around only six couples on a Thursday evening and background music ended about halfway through. Cod very tasty however we did find a few large bones in them. Starters and pudding OK.

The restaurant had a party of 20 and clearly couldn’t cope, one hour between courses! when main course arrived it was over cooked, so all in all very disappointing.

Visited to celebrate friends birthday. A Fantastic food and great service. Even my 6mth granddaughter was happy there. Will definitely going back.
