Further Information

Nestled into Petworth Road in Witley, The Star at Witley is a fantastic local pub in every possible way. Of course there is the good cheer and great beer – fine, real ales and lagers, enjoyed of an evening by chattering locals at the cosy bar or in The Star’s large enclosed beer garden, both ideal spots for exchanging the day’s happenings. It has the sociable darts and pool area expected of a bustling British bar, and a family-friendly vibe and large children’s play area make it a home away from home for young and old just a short way from Godalming.

The food here on Petworth Road continues a dedication to the local community. Premium quality lamb and beef are supplied by local farmers known at The Star at Witley by first name, and all game served was shot in lush local fields, not a baited bunny in sight. The quality and freshness of ingredients is what drives the kitchen team at The Star at Witley, but it’s the delicious dishes they turn these ingredients into that keeps punters coming back – British pub favourites done with a twist, along with some modern gastropub creations, you really couldn’t find more satisfying pub grub or a more welcoming bar between Haslemere and Godalming.

We booked for a family get together. We had a nice table, good service and lovely food. Reasonable prices. I would not hesitate to return.

Really enjoyed my meal at the Star at Witley. The food was great and as we were there on a Friday evening, the atmosphere in the pub was great too. I recommend the ribs! One slight issue is the online menu differs to the actual menu in the pub which made us have to change one of our meals but only a minor inconvenience.

Traditional pub, has the potential to be good, however the food was mixed and we hoped for better sadly. The service was nothing special, even though it wasn't full? Positive point is that the price for the meals are reasonable .

Good pub facilities and atmosphere (not too crowded on a Friday and with pool table and darts facilities). Good ales. Pizza (Friday night) was poor. I love pizza yet left half of it as it did not taste good - it seemed undercooked and dough was not seasoned well (tasted like sourdough).

OK. Nice environment but the food wasn't amazing - particularly when you compare it to other pubs locally. They are clearly trying to improve the ambience and it is looking much better than it did.

Cant complain about the service as there was none. The chef told us he couldnt do a rare rump.... Ive eaten rare rump all over the world. He could do a medium to rare though...so he says. The food arives. The steak looked more like a piece of stewing steak that had been beaten flat with a malet. As for medium rare it was so over well done and cold I dont have a word for it other than insipid. Will never recomend even going there for a drink let alone food.
