A Lovely Sunday carvery with very friendly and helpful staff. This is my 6th visit and will definitely be going again and would recommend to others.
Although the serving staff were pleasant, the food wasn't! The main courses were dry and overlooked and the pudding was out of a tin! Extremely disappointing. I had been to this pub before and had a lovely meal, which was why I wanted to take my mum for her birthday when she visited. However, I think there must have been a new chef or new owners because it has really gone downhill. The entrance hall, restaurant area and toilets could really do with a huge upgrade too. It now looks tired and old fashioned. Such a shame
Shocking service from the moment we arrived to the time we left. Ordered a pint of IPA got something else, sent it back, they returned with the same pint and insisted that’s what we ordered. The tables and chairs were sticky, got told there’s nothing we can do about it because it’s caused by the sanitiser. We ordered our meals (x5) the waitress read our order back to us from her paper note pad, but as x4 meals were delivered to the table we got told there was a computer malfunction and they had lost one of the meals off the order and asked us to remind them what was ordered. Asked for some cold water to cool my 4month old’s bottle of milk before he got hungry, 5minutes later I had to go to the bar to find out where they got to (child is crying at the point). My steak was over cooked and my wife’s burger bun was soggy. The manager apologised and said she was left with just two junior staff members as a coach had just arrived (I saw a coach arrive in the car park mid way through our meal but I didn’t see an influx of people). I will not be returning to the Swan.
Very nice meal, staff very pleasant even though out guests were delayed by more than 30 mins. Surroundings a bit 'tired' - oldfashioned decor, artex ceiling.
Good quality food. All served together at the right time. Nice dining experience and lovely staff who looked after my party and the children very well.
Room with an obscured failed window pane and a cracked wash hand basin gave a rather down at heel effect. The bed seemed an inappropriate height - too low. The hotel is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues and this is not made clear. Staff were variable in their approach. Some very very good, others were less so. Food was good.
Classic country pub restaurant with comfortable rooms. Caters for parties and families. Located on the main A36 road so a bit noisy with traffic early in the morning.
We've been to The Swan before and the food was OK but sadly this time it was not good. Three of our party ordered venison which was so chewy it was inedible, one ordered liver and bacon and said the liver had a very odd consistency and the bacon was stringy, one person ordered the roast which was fine but not hot enough and served on cold plates and finally the veggie option was good but also not hot enough. To give them credit, the waitress dealt with our complaints very gracefully and we were given a discount on our meals but a disappointing experience.
Very polite and helpful staff. There is bags of space to drink or dine and they offer the traditional activities such as darts and a wonderful skittle alley. They even have room for a table tennis table! Inside or out you will not be disappointed!
A great place to go for food. Choice of sitting in the garden or at a restaurant table indoors. Delicious food, great choice of menu. Great bar stock of the usual drinks. There is also a lovely garden by the river to have your drinks. The staff were exceedingly polite and attentive and helpful at all times. No hesitation to recommend this restaurant.
Good food, good service and very nice place. We had the Sunday carvery with a choice of three meats and plenty of vegetables, as well as Yorkshire puddings and roasted pots and parsnips.
The pub is located right next to the A36 with the car park on the opposite side of the road. Crossing the road wasn't too much of a problem but you need to be vigilant if you have little ones. Table wasn't ready for us when we arrived but staff were quickish to resolve and orders were taken quickly. The local Swan Ale was lovely. Food (carvery) was pretty good and meat portion served was large but plates were too small (obviously to discourage taking too much), making it difficult to eat. It was busy but it took ages for our plates to be cleared once we'd finished. Dessert was fine but not worth the additional £4. Bill was incorrect (undercharged) when presented, otherwise we had a nice time. Looks like there is a lovely outside space beyond the car park with picnic tables next to the river Wylye and nice views over to Great Wishford. Unfortunately a bit too chilly to test out but maybe another time.
Food was okay, it was a carvary which I didn't realise. So meat and veg was a little more cook than I would like, but plenty of it! Staff were warm, welcoming and friendly.
Easy to book online, The Swan staff were very polite and efficient, we had the carvery and the food was very nice in a beautiful setting outside
Starters were excellent. Main meals - lamb shoulder was superb, venison suffered from an overpowering accompaniment/sauce though the meat itself was cooked well. The kids enjoyed their meals though the chips were slightly greasy rather than crisp. Service couldn't be faulted.
A very pleasant evening, the dining area is well presented, the service was good as was the food. An enjoyable evening. I would recommend the Swan at Stoford
My family did not enjoy the experience. The carvery food was cold, potatoes and parsnips were black, the gravy was much too thick, we did not stop for dessert, the diners on table next to us had to return custard to have it heated and we thought - noo thank you.
Such great food! Huuuuuge portions. Lovely atmosphere and even got to have a go at skittles. A very enjoyable evening. Friendly staff as well. Thanks
We had a fantastic time at the Swan celebrating my father's birthday...we travelled down from Bristol & my parents travelled up from New Milton. The food was excellent, served quickly & staff were very friendly, attentive & hospitable....we will definitely be back.
the rooms were very nice, plenty of tea, coffee etc. the bathroom seemed very clean and modern, the only qualm I would have with the room is although I found it very comfortable my partner struggled to sleep as the mattress was quite thin. we also ate in the restaurant on the evening, staff all very friendly, service was quick and the food was delicious. wasn't expecting such a big breakfast for quite a small hotel. very nice and set me up for the long journey we had ahead. thank you for a lovely stay.
Had a brilliant evening here. The food was excellent, and the staff were really friendly.. I'll definitely be going back to this pub again.. Highly recommended..
Excellent food and service, great food choice ,lovely atmosphere , staff very friendly and helpful, definitely will be going back again and would recommend to anyone
Very disjointed the carvery table is much too far from the restaurant, meats were not hot enough, the waiting staff were friendly. but incredablely slow, dessert and drinks, took ages to arrive, the table was not cleared of empty glasses and plates, not a good experience.
A warm welcome awaited us. We were shown directly to our table, our drinks order was taken immediately (hurrah). The menu was very good and my lemon sole was superb. Well done, I shall certainly re-visit.
Excellent service and great breakfast. Booking through your Quandoo website, however, put us in for breakfast at 1.30pm instead of 10am! Fortunately, The Swan had availabilty.
Took a while to be seated. Table and menu were sticky. We had the carvery, had to walk through the pub to the skittle room to get our food. Food poor - Yorkshire puddings cold and cardboard like, vegetables warm at best, roast potatoes poor, only thing that was hot and tasted good was the cauliflower cheese. The plates were small and we were given a very small portion of meat. On the plus side the staff were welcoming. We did not stay for a pudding.
The food and entertainment was very good but the resturant should have been warmer to start with. The service was excellent considering the amount of customers.
Good lovely and staff very polite and friendly but toilets need some tlc. Broken tap top. Broken door lock. Shame as meal was faultless. Good value for money.
Lovely atmosphere and food was great staff we're friendly and welcoming, room was clean and very comfortable and good value for money will be staying again if in the area.
We went for lunch with friends. The food was wonderful and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Our children were allowed it play with the skittle alley, which they loved. The whole pub was lovely, clean and a great place for families.
Poor quality food at extortionate prices. 4 pieces of undercooked calamari for £9 and steaks that are all gristle. Would definitely not return and would definitely not recommend.
We received wonderful service from the staff; prompt, courteous, and dealt with any issues we has quickly and without any fuss. Food was nice, we had sunday carvery and puddings. Only complaint from the group was that our plates were not big enough ;-)
Excellent service from the staff.. first class, very informative and very helpful. I would definitely recommend The Swan.. we will be back for the next solstice.. great for parking too
Very friendly roo was clean and warm food was great nice variety pub had a pleasant atmosphere was not noisy which I thought it might be as it's on the road
Very good. Lovely food & Doomsbar real ale. We met the owner who was very welcoming on this our third visit. Glad that she provides freshly prepared meals - the wait time reflects this - and has fought off the norm of microwave reheats. Sad that the lady from Valencia has gone home, but the service was still good.
Excellent food and great service definitely recommend it, we had the Sunday Carvery and couldn't fault it, and the homemade desserts are to die for, delicious, looking forward to our next visit
Pleasant surroundings in the bar. Good food and attentive service. Didn't try the ale as I was driving, but I will certainly be going back in the future.
Service was very slow (apparently they were a member of staff short) but things were forgotten. Food and drink quite expensive for what it was.
Good food and beer. Pleasant surrounding and friendly staff. Have been several times before and will go again. Good skittle alley and easy to get to.
four of us dined at lunch time on sunday 23rd October. Service was good with very friendly waiter. Sadly the three of us who chose the carvery were very disappointed. The food was at best luke warm, the beef was tough, over cooked and the pork again both luke warm. The vegetables were virtually cold as was the yorkshire pudding. Will not be returning.
We loved our stay at The Swan. Young man behind the bar on Friday night, Saturday night and at breakfast Sunday was very friendly and helpful. Thank you. Would highly recommend you .
Our stay at the Swan was memorable. Great situation, value for money and a great team of staff who made us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend it and visit again.
Great friendly service and the food was lovely. It was reasonably priced too. Would recommend as a place to go for a pub lunch. Thanks
