Very nice pub, lovely setting. The only down side was that 5 of our party of 6 wanted fish and chips and they'd run out - this was at 3.30pm on good Friday
Brilliant staff, brilliant Sunday roast, brilliant atmosphere - and having the option of a nice walk along the river after such a hearty meal that is closed with a satisfying dessert, it was the perfect experience. Would definitely come back here and make it a local favourite, but best booked before coming as it gets really busy!
Worth a visit for the history of the place , food good but a little expensive... Glad I made the visit but probably wouldn't return.
Lovely service and great food. Asked for my salmon to be grilled not fried which wasn't a problem at all. Both companions left happy and full.
Great food and drink, best of all fantastic unbeatable service. Real people real food and real views! Can't be beaten and would definitely go again
Service was really fantastic, food was very tasty with large portions (the sirloin steak was divine!). Beautiful location on the waterfront. 10/10 splendid atmosphere too
Delicious food & good service but they forgot to put our order through on the computer which meant we had to wait 50mins for our starter.
Delicious Sunday lunch in a wonderful setting. All the staff are attentive and there is a really good atmosphere. The views over the Thames to Canary wharf and the Dome are wonderful.
Lovely venue. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere and very pleasant staff. All food was very nice - although a few problems with timings and temperature of food. But everything was swiftly and amicably rectified. Would definitely return again.
Friendly service, food was good, nice table, salmon was really good. Chips a bit too thick Get your heating sorted, you don't need radiators on in the summer, get a decent plumber in and you could save yourself some money.
There are six white wines on offer. We ordered the sauvignon. They said they had run out. We ordered prosecco and they said they had run out. It wAs a birthday dinner. Embarassing for me. We orderd champagne at £65 abottle. They reduced the price of one bottle by £20 as compensation. Please up yoyr game! This is an important location and restaurant. V disappointed
Excellent meal! Table available even though we brought more guests than expected. Great views and atmosphere. Fantastic and prompt service. Thanks for a lovely evening.
There's something splendid about standing in those great rooms so full of history and yesterday was full of brilliant sunshine so our view over the river was bordering on spectacular. The staff were, as ever, excellent (and tolerant). The whitebait was, as ever, delicious (but I keep forgetting how much of it is served!) The mains were average, but not bad. The wine list is rather limited and could do with some expansion in our view, but the quality of the wines we chose (a 2015 Chilean Sauvignon Blanc and a Malbec, from I can't remember where) was good. It's one of our favourite places to take friends, so we'll be back again.
A very nice restaurant few minutes from Cutty Sark DLR station on the riverside with nice view to Canary Wharf and O2 arena. Try their fish and chips!
Nice environment but sunday lunch very disappointing. Dry meat, meal served luke warm, and generally poor meal. For the price, very poor and we wouldn't go back to eat there.
The second time in the last few monthsI have been here. I was not too impressed the first time. However, yesterday it was brilliant. The staff, service, quality of food was all excellent. I will definitely be going back.
We had a great time, got a table with a nice view, very nice! Food was excellent, ordered Sunday Roast. Definitely we'll visit again. Thanks so much!
Lovely place, good food and good prices. The view on the Thames is so romantic! Waiters are polite and the atmosphere is worm. Absolutely recommended
Good food - very pleasant afternoon the staff were very attentive and helpful. The restaurant was very busy which was a good sign. Limited but good selection available. Also good for real ale
Went to Trafalgar Tavern - food great as always, service good, re-seated us to table at window. Waiter friendly and attentive one of our favourite venues in greenwich would recommend a visit!
Good service, amazing view of the River, fantastic food, very nice experience.
I was already a fan of this riverside pub in Greenwich and my visit didn't disappoint the food was great and the service was lovely. My only comment was with the booking system. I originally called to book a table in the restaurant for 2 at around 3pm and was told that they didn't have anything available that afternoon but I could come and sit in the bar area. I then went online and realised I could book via the website and thought I would try my luck. Somehow I was able to book online at the same time with no problems...Maybe I will just book through the website in future. Overall it was a really nice lunch.
Very attentive staff. Excellent portion size. Lovely location. Tip is to book a table for after 6:30pm so you can park on the road itself.
Supposed to be dog friendly, does not make it clear on website they cant be in restaurant side, I did ask that question when I booked, however I never got a reply. We were allowed to dine in the bar area, short staffed, a long wait to be served, tired scruffy looking decor, we won't be returning.
It was an enjoyable experience and the staff were attentive. However I did request ,when booking on line a table by the window. The staff were apparently not aware of this which was disappointing. They did however mange to accommodate us.
Good food, generous portions & a great location Have been there a few times and have never been disappointed. Would recommend if considering a Sunday lunch.
The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We also did not have to wait long for anything. The food was lovely, the fish and chips fresh and delicious. The ambience and view onto the river were great. All in all we had a fabulous evening at the Trafalgar Tavern. Thank you very much!!
We had an pleasant meal with friends from Sweden. It was lovely to overlook the river. They moved us to a bigger table as there was 6 of us, even though they were busy. The Sunday roasts, pork & Turkey were large portions & very filling. Service was polite & efficient. They were very accomodating of the children, offering child size portions of any meal on the menu - they came out as small adult portions! Good value for money. I'd definitely recommend The Trafalgar.
While the staff was polite, the server was very new and did not have a great deal of knowledge of the menu or specials. The view is fantastic and the tavern has a great atmosphere.
The was good. It not at the standard or previous years. The soup was good but hardly any of it. It was in a shallow plate rather than in a soup bowl.
Called in Saturday night ,despite there been a wedding on the service was quick and attentive. My Lady had the whitebait which was a huge portion Main course for me was the Chicken and Mushroom Pie a piping hot big feast of chicken cooked in an enamel pie dish and a light pastry lid.The hand cut chips were cooked to perfection with a side dish of sugar snap peas, broccholi and carrot all cooked al dente. A good selection of Ales and wines. We tried a pudding of Chocolate brownie and Honeycombe icecream between us but could not quite finish it !!! In my experiance food down The Big Smoke is hit and miss ,this is a HIT... right on the river and tastefully done out to boot
On the plus side, the whitebait was delicious and the wine was tasty and reasonable. We enjoyed our meal and didn't feel at all rushed even though plenty of people were turning up in the hope of getting a table. On the minus side, we called in person before the meal and were told we could have a window table - that didn't happen (however, the MD was both polite and apologetic and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine for the inconvenience). Also, the steak was a bit chewy.
Food was great. setting is fantastic overlooking the thames. Service is the only thing that knocks it from a 6 out of 6. Waiter struggled to be clear when taking our order. Then two dishes came out and the third didn't. When we enquired they said it had been taken to another table by mistake. Overall great just frustrating delay when we were very hungry.
Great views, great food, fantastic and obliging staff - a good range of drinks as well. You can't go wrong at this place. Thoroughly recommended!
Rushed in and out but the food was great. Shame we felt we had to wolf down our food. Didn't make for the most relaxed of evenings.
We were a party of four and had the seabass, rack of lamb, sausage and mash and pork belly. All the dishes were very good. We also had deep fried whitebait for starters and they were super fresh and tasty, and not at all oily. Service was very quick, warm and friendly. The maitre d, Aldo, went out of his way to find us a table by the window for us to enjoy the view of the Thames at night. The room is very pleasant, with high ceiling, charming pictures on the wall and lovely soft colours. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food, beer and atmosphere. My international guests thoroughly enjoyed their dining experience and the beautiful river views. Will definitely be back. Many thanks cheers!!!
Not a good experience. Took one hour for our first course to arrive. Warm champagne. Disappointed as we have dined here before. Could not recommend on this basisi
We enjoyed the delicious food and very attentive service! The wine list was good, the view of the river was great and they kindly turned the musak down/off for us
The food was terrible, tasteless, overdone and below average. for £15-16 main course i would expect a better quality. Service was nice but staff in the kitchen clearly was waiting for us to leave as we were the last customers in the restaurant. Bad choice of venue for a meal.
we have waited for our dishes more than 50 min. when the dishes finally arrived the meat was cold. Poor quality in general. I had fish&chips and fish was very greasy. it was not the first time we went, but we just wanted to give it another go. I am afraid it is not worth it.
Prices a little on the high side but the food was delicious. Whitebait and the stuffed chicken breast I would certainly have again. Staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. They were attentive and I was glad as one of our party was enjoying his birthday treat. The Trafalgar has always fancied itself as something special. Possibly because of its position on the river. However, the restaurant is part of a noisy pub. Having said that we had a very good evening and the food was excellent!
I love this place, and the food and service are excellent. Great views, and not too crowded on weekday afternoons. Interesting menu - the steak and kidney pudding is super.
Fantastic patient service, and top notch food. The Sunday Roast was excellent, and our waiter was very kind even though one of our party was 40 mins late!
Great for lunch by the river on a sunny summer Sunday afternoon in a comforable setting. The service was just attentive enough and the food was great.
Roast dinners are very over priced, not very hot service and the toilets are gross. Amazing area and could be so much better! Trying to be a Gastro pub with shoddy interiors, and chain pub service.
Food and service not bad but toilets very dirty. Sticky doors and very smelly. Absolutely revolting. Gave a second and last chance today. Failed.
Lovely location, right on the river, had a good view from where we were seated. Food good, generous portions and good choice. Prices ok for location. Service was a bit hit and miss, at first there was some confusion over where I we were to be seated because the manager (not sure but think he was) interferred with the seating, he assumed I hadn't booked but I had already told a waitress I had booked. Meals didn't all arrive at the same time, had to remind waitress re some items. Recommend booking as get very busy, ate there one Sat in July.
Good service in restaurant. Food very tasty, recommend the pork belly.
What a lovely old and indeed historical venue to enjoy a sumptuous meal. We had the Sunday Roast (beef) followed by the Trafalgar Mess for dessert. Very well presented and tasty. Good service.
