Located in the heart of the Langar, The Unicorn’s Head is as good as classic British gastropubs get. This recently refurbished pub has a strong focus sourcing local produce for their delicious homemade and wholesome fare, as well as hand picking the cask ales from Everards Brewery in Leicester. The team here take pride in fostering community spirit as well, so you’ll find loads of events, live music and of course, their famous Sunday Roast. The Unicorn’s Head is the ideal spot for a family celebration, or for a cosy meal for two, so do yourself a favour and pay this Langar spot a visit as soon as you can. You’ll find them on Main Street, just up from the Post Office – booking ahead is advised.
There really isn’t much better than a cosy, local pub. Especially when it serves food as good as The Unicorn’s Head in Langar, just along Main Street. The food here is all homemade and all delicious, and you’ll find all your favourite British pub classics that are sure to whet your appetite. Enjoy the afternoon in their alfresco area while snacking on some nibbles from The Unicorn’s Head deli, like the pork scratchings, flamed chorizo or salt & pepper onion petals, while catching up with friends and enjoying a tipple or two.
For those with a heartier appetite, why not opt for a traditional British pie like the posh fish pie with seasoned mash and vegetables; the hennessy pulled pork burger with spicy jalapenos and chips or the anatra arrosto pizza topped with shredded duck, cucumber strips, spring onion, plum sauce and mozzarella? Or, if you’re feeling brave, share their famous 1kg tomahawk steak with all the trimmings – but you’ll need a friend, just as hungry for this one. So if you want our opinion, The Unicorn’s Head in Langar is just one of those gastropubs that you’ve simply got to visit. So whether it’s for a mid-week meal, weekend drink or special occasion, the Unicorn’s Head has got you covered. Just be sure to bring your appetite!
great treat for my mum on mother's day. lovely carvery and delicious gin :)
We really enjoyed our night out at the Unicorn's head. Great venue , lovely staff, good choice of drinks & delicious food .Highly recommended and will come back again.
Really really lovely place to spend an evening, wonderful, cosy and great food from local producers. Will definitely be returning. The unicorns head is just marvellous.
What a lovely pub, amazing food friendly and brilliant service. We’ve recently moved to a village nearby and wanted to try some of the local pubs , this is the best so far and will be very hard to beat. I can’t wait to go back. Kids enjoyed it as well so added bonus as they are fussy .
A very busy Sunday lunch crowd but the staff showed professionalism and gave me confidence that our pre booked reservation would be honoured and it was. After ordering a pre lunch drink we we're guided to our table and informed that our turn at the carvery table would be in 4 minutes, it took 5 minuets. We chose the carvery option which was nicely presented looked appertising and tasted even better. Well done to the proprietors and your staff.
Sunday Carvery 29th October. Despite being 2 Chefs down therefore only being allowed starters from the main menu the Carvery was very plentiful, there was a good selection of Meats and a generous selection of veg and lots of it,all the food was hot and Beth with her waiting staff kept an organised and steady flow of customers through the Carvery , service was very good and welcoming. Well done to the Unicorns Head
Good service even though the restaurant was really busy we were not kept waiting too long. Good choice of food and some excellent chef specials. Enjoyed the meals and would recommend. Would have given a 6 if I had not seen a waitress drop clean cutlery on the floor and then go back and pick it up and put it away. Especially as it was dropped in a busy thoroughfare where all the guests have to walk to get to the toilet. That is just not acceptable.
Superb starters and mains, Wild mushrooms on toast followed by one of the best steak pies I've ever had, with quality "proper" mushy pea, and fantastic "triple cooked chips!" Only fault was the White wine was served almost warm!! White wines must be served at 5-6'C. Just putting ambient temperature bottles of wine, in the vacuum container DOES NOT COOL. Such a pity as it was a nice wine when we added to ice to cool, but not quite the way!!
Room too cold and draughty because of the numerous points of access and doors being left open by staff as well as customers. Lighting too harsh in restaurant. Service slow but wouldn’t have been a problem if we had felt warm and cosy. Food ok but the fish was not available for the fish dish I ordered and so was substituted with another fish which didn’t work in the dish yet we were originally charged full price for it. This is the third time we have been as we have been really hoping it would be one of our regular go to places but unfortunately all 3 times have been a disappointment.
We has an amazing lunch, we don't go out often as we have a 4 month old baby and a 5 year old but it was our 1st wedding anniversary so we wanted to try and do something. The food was amazing and staff really helpful with our children. We will be back 😃
