An English country pub with lots of charm, The Vane at Longnewton has been trading for over two hundred years, located inside a historic building on Darlington Road. Whether its for a pub lunch or a few pints in the evening, The Vane is a fantastic choice, attracting guests from all over the Stockton on Tees area and even further afield with its menu of gourmet pub food and British cuisine. To guarantee a table, making a reservation in advance is recommended.
Situated within a restored 19th century pub, The Vane provides a stunning location to dine in, boasting a spacious beer garden too. Located in Longnewton a four mile drive from Stockton on Tees and six miles from Darlington, a trip to The Vane is the perfect way to spend a day in the countryside. No matter if it's for a pit stop after a long walk in the country (doggies are welcome in the bar and beer garden too!), to tuck into a hearty pub lunch, or spend the evening catching up with friends over some drinks and home-style pub food, The Vane is draws in diners from all over.
On the menu you’ll find British classics, as well as some internationally inspired dishes, all cooked using fresh local ingredients where possible. We recommend starting off with the butter poached langoustine with chorizo and white bean veloute or the confit duck and rhubarb terrine with rhubarb and blueberry chutney, duck and blueberry bon bons and wholemeal toast. Then, move on to the chicken supreme, home-smoked salmon or caramelised leek, onion and camembert pie – there’s something to suit all tastes and dietary requirements on the menu at this Longnewton favourite. I took a friend here for lunch who'd never been before and he really enjoyed it. Always a delicious eating experience at The Vane and it has a lovely atmosphere too
Superb Sunday roast dinner. Service was excellent. They made my wife a gluten free yorkshire pudding as we had let them know when we booked that she was coeliac. She was over the moon as she had never had a yorkshire pudding whilst out for a meal before. Pudding was just as good. Would highly recommend as the atmosphere, staff etc can not be faulted in any way.
lovely food, a big step up from pub food but without the silly price tag.. drinks prices equally reasonable, shame I couldn't have my liquer coffee( didn't have the right cream). But only a small thing didn't spoil the overalldinng experience
