The Violet Green of Norton is an irresistible little restaurant serving simple yet refined British food. The restaurant is nestled away as you cut below Norton Village Green and is a charming place to sit, made even more so thanks to the welcome from the staff and the quality dishes featured on the weekly-changing menu. The menu highlights we have below are a sample of what you can expect, as dishes being served when you visit The Violet Green yourself will depend on what’s in season and what’s available from the trusted local suppliers that The Violet Green works with. Either way, the refined British dishes here are often smaller and designed for sharing or grazing. Reservations at The Violet Green Norton are essential as folk from all over the Stockton-on-Tees area flock to get involved.
British dining is always best when the menu you’re choosing from has a clear focus on local and seasonal ingredients, and this is precisely what you can expect from the menu at The Violet Green of Norton. As we said above, the menu here changes weekly so it’s difficult to paint a detailed picture of the dishes you can expect, but rest assured that each every one will have been prepared with knowledge and love. All meat at The Violet Green is supplied by Blackwell’s of Norton, all fish from Hodgson’s of Hartlepool and all fruit & vegetables from local growers and foragers, The Gourmet Garden of Sedgefield.
The Violet Green of Norton is great for casual dining. The setting on The Green feels secluded and definitely relaxes you because the food – often small dishes designed for sharing and grazing, remember – arrives gradually, meaning you can chat, eat and drink at the same time. Open just for dinner from Wednesday though until Sunday, The Violet Green of Norton is one of the most delightful British restaurants we know of in or around Stockton-on-Tees.
We visited in mid December and were so impressed we decided to spend New Year's Eve here. my goodness we were not disappointed. from start to finish everything was superb and nothing was too much trouble. All the staff worked so hard to make everything run smoothly and it was perfect. we can't wait to come back.
I love it in here. Because it’s under the ships, it’s quite small, but in a good way. It makes it feel quaint and cosy, and not too noisy or too busy. It also means the food comes quickly. The food is so tasty and they use local produce too. The price is decent and you get value for your money in terms of quality and flavour. They also do set menus here so it’s worth a visit, just to try the incredible food.
Had the Sunday Lunch, The food was excellent,Both my wife and I had the beef, excellently cooked. A good variation of vegetables and a good sized Yorkshire pudding. Attentertive service made for a excellent expierience.
