Visit to celebrate wife's birthday, group of 8 staff were excellent food was very good and service was nice and prompt after ordering always eat here when in Edinburgh

Staff were friendly, service super fast, food absolutely delicious! Sangria was juicy and just what the doctor ordered. One tiny small thing that got me a bit miffed.... Staff writing on my bill "service charge not included". I felt like that was obvious and not needed to be so blatntly pointed out, and felt like panhandling for tips. I gave a slightly less tip solely because of this. Not cool....felt condescending in a way.

Fantastic authentic Mexican restaurant. Food fabulous, Frozen Margaritas yummy. Service was brilliant. Definitely the place to visit for Mexican food. Great for a romantic night or a girls nights out.

Fabulous food, staff and atmosphere. The food was served very quickly. We had plenty of drinks throughout the evening and we never felt rushed at all.

I’ve been going to this restaurant since it opened over 30 years ago, never disappoints, great value for money, great central location. Well worth a visit whenever your in Edinburgh.

Good service, staff attentive but not obtrusive, great food and not overly priced. Would have been top marks if it not for the icy blast every time the door opened. Overall a nice place to eat.

The atmosphere was really good, service was really nice, staff was friendly, our food was good, and we were overall happy. I had the mole enchiladas, the taste was really nice and, my partner had the chicken flautas :)

Fab food, fab service, lovely restraunt, good wine, reasonably priced, staff are very friendly, lots of food and drink choose , lovely to taste different food o lots of varity on menue

The food was incredible. As a native Texan from a Mexican family, it was very authentic and tasted like home. 10/10 food, 10/10 atmosphere. Our waitress (long black curly hair) did take the wrong order (which turned out to be delicious so not bothered at all) and was not the most attentive though she was quite friendly regardless. 7/10 service.

Lovely food. In a great location. Quick service. Would definitely go back and recommend others. Great margueritas. 😀and lots of choice on menu for vegetarians.

Disappointing visit. Service was slow, margaritas were a bit too tart and food was mediocre and lukewarm. Not our best visit, hopefully just an off night.

I’m not a fan of Mexican food but this restaurant is by far one of my favourite restaurant I have been to... I got a table for valentines and it was just amazing, the staff are so welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere is so good and the food is delicious... would highly recommend it x

Took a while to be seated, people who arrived after us spoken to before us, no ambiance very quiet food arrived quickly and was ok. Wouldn't go back.

Food here was lovely and was served really fast. The atmosphere is spot on and the staff are very friendly and helpful. All in all a great experience.

Fabulous food, nachos, tachos, fajitas, tostadas, margaritas, all lovely. Service great, busy evening and the food came on quickly, would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Edinburgh

Really enjoyed the meal. Good service with ceviche and fish taco stand out. Marguerita and tequila very enjoyable. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff and pricing reasonable.

Food is amazing! BEST FAJITAS!!! If you’re in Edinburgh this is a must... you won’t be disappointed. Nicely rounded off with a couple of Tequila Shots!

Lovely food. Staff were great too. Would have possibly preferred a large table down stairs. But the overall vibe of the restaurant is lovely, authentic Mexican.

We’ve been big fans of Viva Mexico for over 17 years and it was lovely to take our son, for his 13th birthday. Food and ambience were great, the mojito delicious and we can’t wait to go back...

Tasty food but waitresses could be a bit more pleasant. Chairs wobbly and a man was sitting on one and it collapsed and he was not that big. Recommend for food and taste of Mexican.

Great meal with extended family who were visiting from US. Really tasty food with friendly service and very atmospheric surroundings. I would recommend it you want an authentic Mexican experience.

recent visit was probably one of the best meals we have had at Viva. Chimichanga was excellent and chocolate chili cheesecake superb. Very friendly staff, great lunch

We are regular visitors to Mexico and the food here was so authentic. Nothing like your typical tex mex chain restaurants. Absolutely superb my wife had soup to start and she couldn't believe how much it tasted like the real thing. The staff were really friendly.

Viva Mexico is a wonderful restaurant. I have been going there since the 80s when I was a student. The food is delicious, with huge main courses (I did not attempt a starter) and wonderful margarita cocktails. I chose the Tacos with chicken, which came with refried beans, guacamole and sour cream and was mahoosive! There was no room for any dessert, sadly. I had to make do with a delicious spicy hot chocolate instead. It came in at a very reasonable £25 including a tip. The ambience is lively - it was full on Friday evening, comfortable, with fast efficient service. A brilliant evening catching up with friends. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely meal today at Viva Mexico. The food was really tasty and the service was good. Never had a bad meal there!

The staff were excellent as was the food. There was a group of 6 of us, we all had starters and main courses which were loved by all. My only fault was the main course was brought very quickly after finisihing the starters, it would have been good to have had at least 5 minutes in between. Definately will be back!

Loved the starters and desserts but the main courses were a bit bland and the chicken was dry. The venue itself was really nice and I would try again the moley sauce was not to my liking perhaps it’s an aquired taste.

Great no-nonsense Mexican food. Plenty for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Kids loved their quesadillas and refried beans. Salsa was fresh and vibrant. Service was quick and efficient. Love the decor too - Dia de los Muertos, Pancho Villa and much more.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Thanks Viva Mexico. No complaints from the group of 6. We would book again. Memories of when we visited a while back have been reignited.

Excellent food with super friendly service. The decor is beautiful and the menu authentic and extensive. Our family favourite is the sopa de tortilla. We'll be back!

Very nice food and service. Will definitely go back to try more of the mains. The margheritas were excellent and enough for everybody. Try the fajitas.

Lovely food and very filling. Service on the other hand was poor, mixed up our order and attitude of waitress was poor to say the least. No time given between meals either, was very fast.

Good location near the centre. Friendly staff, good portions and great margaritas. I ordered the Polo Mayan. Very tasty. Staff were ttentive and food arrived quickly

Went for late lunch. What can I say. Food was lovely. Fresh, tasty and well presented. Restaurant was busy but not over noisy. Quaint inside as we were taken to a table downstairs. Decorated very nicely. Staff very polite and friendly.
