Located on Preston Road right in the heart of Ribble Valley, White Bull at Alston is a contemporary twist on a traditional English gastropub, the perfect place for a pub lunch or a refreshing drink or two after a day spent exploring the countryside, attracting visitors to the area and local foodies alike. To guarantee a table at White Bull at Alston, close to the lovely town of Longridge and a short drive from Preston, making a reservation in advance is recommended.
Visited on a Monday and missed the busy time, so was fairly quiet, but as always the staff very friendly and professional food excellent, not our first visit and won’t be our last. Very positive experience all round.
Visited the white bull at alston last Sunday and was certainly not disappointed. The staff really know the meaning of customer service. The food itself was absolutely incredible. Well worth a visit and will be returning.
Excellent value for money and good service as always! Portions are generous and a good selection of tasty food. We are never disappointed. Good pub food in a friendly atmosphere
A really nice atmosphere, with friendly staff. Was nice to be able to alter my meal for me. Food was good, and good value for money. Thanks
We have eaten at the white bull for the past few years. The used to be consistently good and always freshly prepared. Last time we visited just before Christmas it wasn’t quite as good and tonight it was terrible. We both had a roast dinner, the chicken was dry and tasteless and the roast potatoes were so hard you couldn’t cut them with a knife. I suspect they had been deep fried several times throughout the day. They have also changed the menu and the 2 course set menu is now extremely limited. We did complain to the waitress and she was lovely, very apologetic and offering more potatoes and drinks however we just wanted to leave. We were informed that ours was the first complaint since the new head chef had been hired however we were talking to the table behind us and they were not impressed either stating that the chips were hard and the food had been hit and miss recently. We all agreed that it has gone downhill. This is such a disappointment as we loved this place before. We will now have to search for a new regular place to visit for good fresh English food. Such a shame
Lovely meal here this evening. Second visit with the hubby. I had the curried pork balls which were delicious. My other half had the pate which went down a treat. My husband had the rag pudding which he enjoyed and I had the sea bass which was delicious. Followed by sticking toffee pudding and chocolate tart. Really delicious meal and great service. We will be back
Beautiful inside - friendly staff with table service. Three course meal was all cooked to your liking. Excellent choice on menu, vegetarian option, gluten free option, food all home made and very well presented. You must give it a try you will not be disappointed!
Best Rag Pudding since my Gran's. Sticky toffee pudding - delicious and a generous portion. Great Staff. Great Food. Comfortable, attractive room with well spaced tables. Relaxed atmosphere. Good mix of couples and families. Oh and it's also a pub. Highly recommended.
The service was slow and I was brought the wrong thing for my main course, I ordered the goats cheese tart and I got a goats cheese salad (starter) which meant everyone had finished eating by the time I got my main course. When it did arrive, the pastry was underdone and soggy. Its a shame really because it would probably have been nice if it was done properly. Also would have liked to be in the restaurant area rather than the bar area.
Lovely meal here. Top quality home cooked food at good prices. We will definitely come back here. Proper home cooked chips that you don't see often these days. It's nice when a restaurant makes the extra effort
