We had been here a few weeks before & really enjoyed our meal but this time half the things were off the menu & the staff were too busy gossiping to bring our drinks. Food was tasty but very little on the plate. Will try again at some point maybe to see out of Three
It wasn’t open for food on the day I booked online

The food was very tasty and not too badly priced. Good menu selection and also drinks selection. Good choice of gin particularly. Easy to book a table in advance and friendly staff.

Staff were great, food was lovely, atmosphere was relaxing. Great evening. A nice restaurant area & great pub. Darts & Dominoes being played. Not many proper pubs around these days.
There is a good choice of food on the menu and the food is well presented and delicious. The staff are welcoming, informed about the food they are serving and polite.
Excellent food and service, Lovely evening spent with friends. Child’s meal was excellent quality too. Portion size was good and will definitely go back. A
For starters we had the mushroom soup which was delicious. As a main we went for the Turkey roast, great taste, good portions, friendly staff.
Lovely establishment, top notch food, great atmosphere, friendly attentive staff, one of my favourite places to eat out
Very understanding of the lateness of one of the guests ! Personal service of waitresses was second to none. Frequent visitor - will go again for sure.
This was our second visit in 2 days with some different friends on this occasion. The Rag Pudding was amazing. Huge & stuffed to the brim with beef. Already can’t wait for our next visit.
Great food, well prepared and presented. Some portions bigger than you think. Would definitely recommend to anyone as brilliant choices on the menu. Only downside was the waiter/waitress kept walking past the table to check if we had finished.
Excellent meal at the White Bull today. Two of us ate off the Christmas menu and two from the regular menu, all the food was of a good standard and we would definately go again. The staff were also friendly and efficient.
The food is always of top quality and the staff are pleasant and attentive. Can not recommend this place more. Lovely for family's and couples.
Excellent. Not much more to say. Great food, good menu, fantastic service and good value - especially on a “Steak Night” We’ll be back soon.
Brilliant, excellent food and excellent service. The steak and ale suet pudding was delicious. No room for a pudding, so just had a liquor coffee. Would definitely go again.
The food was great. The mussels and soup as starters were delicious. Mains were good too. Service was very helpful and friendly as always. We would definitely recommend The White Bull.
Thus is a nice looking restaurant in a nice location. The food was delicious and it was very reasonably priced. The staff were also very friendly. I will definitely return.
Lovely food, lovely staff and pleasant atmosphere. We will certainly 're visit. The drinks are reasonable prices and the food is also reasonable prices. Thank you.
Four of us went To The White Bull Alston on Saturday evening. We all enjoyed a lovely meal with efficient service and a friendly atmosphere
Very helpful staff who went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Excellent food from starter to dessert. Will definitely go again and again.
Nice venue, excellent service and a good choice of meals. The food was well presented and tasty. No hesitation in recommending the White Bull at Alston.
Excellent food served by excellent polite and professional staff. Clearly a very well led team resulting in a great ambience and a lovely dining experience.

good food ,good wine ,its along time since i had a meal as good. the wine was superb .have all ready book another meal ,and price was reasonable...everything was good
Excellent food went for early bird. Two courses for£13 will go again.good service. It was a sunny evening so sat in the beer garden after the food gets the sun all evening.
Waited 45 minutes for our lunch with no one else in the restaurant until after we had ordered our meal so couldn’t understand why the long delay. I had the plaice with new potatoes and asparagus, the potatoes weren’t cooked, very hard so the waitress changed them for chips, I left the asparagus as I couldn’t put my fork into them again not cooked, my fish was very small so not an enjoyable meal. My sister had the fish pie which was more like seafood soup with a circle of mashed potatoes in the middle. My husband had the venison which was very very rare so didn’t eat it. We won’t be going back as the meal wasn’t enjoyable.
We really enjoyed the lovely food and friendly staff and look forward to going back. Enjoyed the flavours of Lancashire and the different choices for a vegetarian.
Fantastic meal. Really good sized children's portions. All the staff were friendly and pleasant the White Bull at Alston is a great eating place. Highly recommended
lads sat at bar effing and blinding, portion sizes as in mash potato, sauce on sticky toffee pudding and crab meat on mac and cheese all v poor, will not be returning
Visited on a Monday and missed the busy time, so was fairly quiet, but as always the staff very friendly and professional food excellent, not our first visit and won’t be our last. Very positive experience all round.
Visited the white bull at alston last Sunday and was certainly not disappointed. The staff really know the meaning of customer service. The food itself was absolutely incredible. Well worth a visit and will be returning.
We have eaten at the white bull for the past few years. The used to be consistently good and always freshly prepared. Last time we visited just before Christmas it wasn’t quite as good and tonight it was terrible. We both had a roast dinner, the chicken was dry and tasteless and the roast potatoes were so hard you couldn’t cut them with a knife. I suspect they had been deep fried several times throughout the day. They have also changed the menu and the 2 course set menu is now extremely limited. We did complain to the waitress and she was lovely, very apologetic and offering more potatoes and drinks however we just wanted to leave. We were informed that ours was the first complaint since the new head chef had been hired however we were talking to the table behind us and they were not impressed either stating that the chips were hard and the food had been hit and miss recently. We all agreed that it has gone downhill. This is such a disappointment as we loved this place before. We will now have to search for a new regular place to visit for good fresh English food. Such a shame
The service was slow and I was brought the wrong thing for my main course, I ordered the goats cheese tart and I got a goats cheese salad (starter) which meant everyone had finished eating by the time I got my main course. When it did arrive, the pastry was underdone and soggy. Its a shame really because it would probably have been nice if it was done properly. Also would have liked to be in the restaurant area rather than the bar area.
Excellent value for money and good service as always! Portions are generous and a good selection of tasty food. We are never disappointed. Good pub food in a friendly atmosphere
The staff were very friendly, the menu could have had a little more variety however the food was delicious. Refreshing to see a nice variety of soft drinks too.
A really nice atmosphere, with friendly staff. Was nice to be able to alter my meal for me. Food was good, and good value for money. Thanks
