Gourmet British cuisine is what you’ll enjoy at 1964, a fine dining establishment in Gateshead. This family-run restaurant is well known for their fresh, delicious offerings which include updated British classics like pan-fried pigeon breast with pearl barley risotto and wild mushrooms, slow cooked pork belly with black pudding and cauliflower or 28 day dry aged British steaks. On Sunday, stop in for lunch from between 12pm and 4pm for a traditional roast – go for the roast pork with homemade stuffing and cracklings for a feast you won’t soon forget. Located on Durham Road closed to Wesley Memorial Methodist church in Low Fell, 1964 is a must-visit for lovers of traditional English food. Book a table today.
We had another fabulous meal the quail starter was well presented and very tasty followed by lamb saddle cooked to perfection. The service was great as usual.
The quality of food was excellent as was its presentation and the level of service was exemplary. This is a real gem of a restaurant.
Excellent food and great service. The quail starter in particular was outstanding. One of the best dishes I have ever eaten. Will definitely be back
