As one might expect from a place calling itself ‘oven-baked,’ Al Forno specialises in delicious Italian dishes fired in an authentic Italian stone oven. Of course this means that Al Forno – run by a group of chefs with training and years of experience in and around Naples, pizza’s Holy Land – offers some of the very best pizzas to be had in West London. The dough is made in-house each day, topped with 100% mozzarella and fresh plum-tomato sauce and blasted in the oven to create that iconic thin-but-foldable Neapolitan crust. This cosy and elegant Italian eatery in the heart of Shepherd’s Bush (at Romney Court on Shepherd’s Bush Green), though, is not just a pizzeria, and their range of signature oven-baked dishes (the lasagna is rich and moreish, and their penne-based pasta bakes are unique) is just as impressive as the pizza, not to mention the wealth of risottos, salads, hefty mains, dainty desserts and even satisfying breakfast meals.
