Bird in Hand, Lovedean

We booked a table for three and on arrival there was a friendly welcome and we were led directly to our table. Our meals were excellent and the service first class.

Ate with a party of 4, we all had different meals - each was tasty and hot. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant - we’ll definitely return

Super food and super service on a very busy night although I expect most nights are busy with this quality. Will definately go again soon.

The food was excellent and even though my chips were forgotten our meals were superb and the mistake was rectified by offering a free pudding but far to full so l was given a free glass of wine. Win win thank you, looking forward to going back

Lovely meal and good service would recommend a visit here. Visited as a group of 10 and was impressed with food quality and ability to bring all meals out together.

Went here last minute and we where really pleasantly surprised the food was amazing freshly cooked they where very busy due to parties ( Christmas / birthday ) but that made no difference to the service , we will be going here again and very soon thank you

Great food , a gorgeous starter of baked Camembert and bread to dip and share! Followed by stunning main courses and desserts in a great atmosphere with great people!

Great friendly service, relaxed atmosphere and fantastic tasty food. We really enjoyed the A la Cart menu and will definitely be going back. Portions are just right.

Excellent service, food and drinks with a warm a pleasant atmosphere and a roaring log fire. The food was well presented at the correct temperature and perfect timing from when we ordered to the food arriving at our table. Drinks were brought to our table instead of having to wait at the bar and the waitress checked with us that all the food was to our liking a few minutes after delivery to our table. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Great atmosphere, lovely food perfectly cooked - if a little expensive. We sat in the snug by the fire which was great until it started to go out and smoke began to puff into the room!

We had a great meal on route to join our ferry in Portsmouth. The staff were all very friendly and welcomed both us and our dog Charlie. The service was so quick we got to the ferry terminal early. The food was restaurant quality and presentation. I could not recommend this pub enough.

Excellent meal and service only spoiled by a problem with the programming of their till so an incorrect bill produced which took quite a while to resolve.

We can honestly say that 'The Bird In Hand' was one of the best dining experiences we've had! We went there for a Sunday roast and were bowled over by the size...it was huge! It made other roasts we had pretty insignificant and we can't wait to go back! It was fantastic value for money and superbly delicious! The dessert I chose was 'cheesecake of the day' and that too shone amongst others I've had. All the staff were attentive to our needs and despite being a full house, we were served our meal in what seemed like minutes of arriving. The complimentary homemade bread and chilli and tomato butter on arrival added a very pleasant touch. This is one of the very few places we've tried that got everything spot on and the staff were a joy...friendly and courteous at all times! A DELIGHTFUL AND MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE!

Friendly helpful staff. We had the burger and ham, egg and chips. All very tasty, but the portions were too big for us. Cheesecake was delicious!

Had a very enjoyable time at the Bird in Hand! Food was excellent, as was the service. Also enjoyed the rhubarb gin! So I would score this a 6 and would highly recommend.

Nice venue. Staff very pleasant, friendly, helpful and accommodating, especially since we had a disabled member in our party. We all had Sunday, roast lunch which was well prepared and very tasty. The portions were generous, perhaps too generous for us. The service was good, well paced, we did not feel hurried and were not kept waiting. I have one criticism. The table was not wiped down after our main course so we ate our dessert with some spilled vegetables on the table. This was our first visit. I am sure that we will come again.

Nice to have interesting and taste veggie options on offer. Good to have separate dishes of veg, cooked well, not boiled to mush. The "meaties" enjoyed their roasts Pleasant venue in the country. I was just sorry we had to eat early at 12, instead of our preferred 1.00, when there still seemed to be plenty of room.

It was a busy evening but the staff were attentive, the food arrived in good time and tasted absolutely amazing. The prices were competitive for the quality of food. Perfect evening.

Lovely food but seemed overbooked as they had crammed a couple of extra tables in the restaurant and we were right by the edge of the steps up to the restaurant which could have been tricky for a more elderly couple Overall service was brilliant

The choice and quality of food at Bird in Hand is excellent. They have a great selection of wine and cocktails and the service is really good.

Fantastic food, very busy night so very noisy. Was catching up with my dear friend so asked staff if they had a quiet table so we could easily chat, they kindly moved us no problem! Lovely service. Thank you 😊

Great food for all four of us. Requested two times a starter as a main with no problems. Desserts great, loved the idea of mini dessert and hot drink. Staff attentive and helpful.

We had a wonderful roast platter last Sunday. Always enjoyable with delicious vegetables and roast potatoes. The pub has friendly staff with a lovely atmosphere.

What a lovely pub with a good range of beers on the bar and a craft gin menu. The food was lovely, cooked to perfection and the service excellent. We'll be going back!

It was our 42nd anniversary and, having had several good meals there, we chose The Bird in Hand to celebrate it. Everything tonight - service, food & presentation - was perfect tonight. Thank-you!

Very poor, sent starter and main back, never done that before in my life! Scallops were cold (so we're the replacements) and medium steak was like a bit of old leather.

Great food and great service . Staff are so friendly. We had the roast lamb which came out very quickly. We got offered more veggies during the meal which was great. The peanut butter creme brûlée was so nice.

Our first visit and we were very pleasantly surprised. Sunday evening for a standard roast meal, but served with a smile, very tasty and all in a pleasant atmosphere. We'll be returning for a midweek test :-)

Service was excellent and my lamb and chocolate brownie scrumptious. My two friends had the tagine and found it rather spicy. Lovely atmosphere. I will definitely go again.

Delicious desserts which is what our WI group had come for. Service good. Enjoyed our visit. Prices a little high but very enjoyable non the less
