Excellent informative welcome, warm roaring fire with fine food and the service was wonderful thank you. We had a great evening and will be back.

The staff were randomly helpful. The menu varied with a particularly great "specials board" to select from and the food was delicious and the venison leg was a "Flintstone" size!

Love the beef roast and it comes with a great choice of vegetables and the setting is so cosy with a real fire on a cold day

We had a lovely roast dinner there followed by a delicious dessert,the staff were excellent and attentive would most definitely go back we have a anniversary coming up .

A very pleasant evening spent in this pub restaurant. Good food. Good service. Caters well for gluten free diet. We have never been disappointed. Eaten here many times.

A beautiful pub/restaurant in the countryside. With log fires burning creating the smell of a welcoming country home you get great food in a comfy setting with excellent service. Definitely recommend if you want somewhere new to try.

Lovely Sunday Dinner, good staff and nice ambience. one of my favourite places to eat, I am lucky that this pub is within walking distance to me would highly recommend the Bird in Hand to anyone.

First time we have been here a really lovely place to eat and the service was very good didn't get the young girls name who served us but she was excellent . WIll be returning .

Excellent meal for 2 in front of a crackling log burner; cheerful and attentive staff. Scallops were cooked “just-so”and the terriyaki salmon delicious. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely evening. The staff were attentive and the food delicious. The food took a while to come out after ordering so we were unexoectedly given a free bottle of wine to compensate. We actually didn't mind the wait but the bottle was well received. A lovely evening would recommend.

Service was good, food of high quality and nicely presented. I liked the selections of gin and tonics. Was very busy in the bar area but think there was a party.

Service was good but steaks were both over cooked, management did offer us free deserts which were very nice. Will definitely make a return visit.

With a full car park when we arrived I expected a slow service, but no, good quality food and really attentive staff made it an excellent evening. Would highly recommend

A very warm welcome and good service . The food was good but there were a couple of minor issues- the terrine starter was straight out of the fridge and could have done with being brought to room temperature to bring out the ( very good) flavours and the vegetable Wellington had a large quantity of uncooked pastry inside. This was easy to scrape out once I’d realised what it was- being the same colour as the parsnips I ate quite a lot of it before I realised. (Not so nice) The dessert idea of a smaller portion with a coffee for £5 is excellent . Would visit again but with a few tweaks this food would be excellent.

Food was good, atmosphere very good. But the service was very poor, as we were seated in a corner of the bar and ignored almost entirely by the staff; everytime we wanted to order or ask for something, we had to go up to the bar and ask, nobody came over, even though we could see our waiter chatting and serving people behind the bar. Equally, paying £18 for a meal, I was very dissapointed by the size of the meal. This would not have been a problem if the food was good, but it was no better than and actually worse than other places, in similiar locations, who charge far less for more of a portion. Very dissapointed considering I have been a loyal and returning customer of the Bird in Hand for a number of years.

Enjoyed our visit to the Bird in Hand. Service was very quick if a little too quick not giving us much time in-between courses. My duck was lovely just how I ordered it. The sea bass was very good and the accompanying veg was lovely and well cooked. I really enjoyed the red merlot.

We booked a table for three and on arrival there was a friendly welcome and we were led directly to our table. Our meals were excellent and the service first class.

Ate with a party of 4, we all had different meals - each was tasty and hot. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant - we’ll definitely return

Super food and super service on a very busy night although I expect most nights are busy with this quality. Will definately go again soon.

The food was excellent and even though my chips were forgotten our meals were superb and the mistake was rectified by offering a free pudding but far to full so l was given a free glass of wine. Win win thank you, looking forward to going back

Lovely meal and good service would recommend a visit here. Visited as a group of 10 and was impressed with food quality and ability to bring all meals out together.

Went here last minute and we where really pleasantly surprised the food was amazing freshly cooked they where very busy due to parties ( Christmas / birthday ) but that made no difference to the service , we will be going here again and very soon thank you

Great food , a gorgeous starter of baked Camembert and bread to dip and share! Followed by stunning main courses and desserts in a great atmosphere with great people!

Great friendly service, relaxed atmosphere and fantastic tasty food. We really enjoyed the A la Cart menu and will definitely be going back. Portions are just right.

Excellent service, food and drinks with a warm a pleasant atmosphere and a roaring log fire. The food was well presented at the correct temperature and perfect timing from when we ordered to the food arriving at our table. Drinks were brought to our table instead of having to wait at the bar and the waitress checked with us that all the food was to our liking a few minutes after delivery to our table. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Great atmosphere, lovely food perfectly cooked - if a little expensive. We sat in the snug by the fire which was great until it started to go out and smoke began to puff into the room!

We had a great meal on route to join our ferry in Portsmouth. The staff were all very friendly and welcomed both us and our dog Charlie. The service was so quick we got to the ferry terminal early. The food was restaurant quality and presentation. I could not recommend this pub enough.

Excellent meal and service only spoiled by a problem with the programming of their till so an incorrect bill produced which took quite a while to resolve.

We can honestly say that 'The Bird In Hand' was one of the best dining experiences we've had! We went there for a Sunday roast and were bowled over by the size...it was huge! It made other roasts we had pretty insignificant and we can't wait to go back! It was fantastic value for money and superbly delicious! The dessert I chose was 'cheesecake of the day' and that too shone amongst others I've had. All the staff were attentive to our needs and despite being a full house, we were served our meal in what seemed like minutes of arriving. The complimentary homemade bread and chilli and tomato butter on arrival added a very pleasant touch. This is one of the very few places we've tried that got everything spot on and the staff were a joy...friendly and courteous at all times! A DELIGHTFUL AND MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE!

Friendly helpful staff. We had the burger and ham, egg and chips. All very tasty, but the portions were too big for us. Cheesecake was delicious!

Had a very enjoyable time at the Bird in Hand! Food was excellent, as was the service. Also enjoyed the rhubarb gin! So I would score this a 6 and would highly recommend.

As usual a fantastic meal at the Bird in Hand, staff were excellent, attentive but not intrusive. A really lovely visit we will definitely be back.
