Was really looking forward to the meal just looking at the menu, however felt really let down. Waitress poured a cocktail over my friend, blamed someone else and didn't even say sorry and then secondly in terms of food, starter squid was bland, main lamb shank had too much salt and finally the madeline was hard that was served with the brulee .. I would love to give it a 2nd go..as the previous fish and grill place was awesome, but disappointing was an understatement.

The only disappointment with our meal was that our waiter always put my food in front of my friend place. As we were only 2 people at the table , I would have hoped he would get it right once (3 courses and coffee).

A rude head waitress and when I asked for an assortment of pastries and were given one and a hard bit of bread I was told that is how it comes! Rude!

It was a lovely meal and despite only being a Step-mum (without the step children), I still got a glass of champagne. The fish was lovely and the pudding light and satisfyingly. I look forward to going back soon.

Booked on the website and it guided me to the prix fixe menu and asked me to fill out my details for a discount voucher for first visit. I must point out that I didn't go looking for either of these things. When we arrived on the day, we were "greeted" by a rude waitress who told us we may not have the prix fixe menu as it was mother's day and that the voucher was also no good on the day. We sat down and she continued to be less than welcoming... also didn't show us the "mother's day menu" until we asked for it. This just made for a bad start! Had it not been for this, I may have rated the overall experience higher. The experience was however rescued by a waiter who decided to serve us instead mid way through. Politeness and service with a smile goes a long way and thanks to this waiter (I didn't catch his name) we did have a nice evening and enjoyed the food.

A Friendly welcome from the staff and discreet attentiveness throughout the meal; plus, being a Thursday, half-price cocktails, free wine corkage and a 15% off food voucher.

The food was decent (although the frites are literally indistinguishable from McDonalds fries). The service on Saturday wasn't great though. We were left waiting for desert for so long I had to call a waiter over to ask where it was. A latte I ordered also failed to turn up but ended up on the bill. I also had to get up to ask for the bill. As we left we had to ask where our coats were as none of the staff were proactive to fetch them either. Overall the food was good but not sensational and the service was fairly inattentive. Could recommend only if it wasn't busy.

A very enjoyable evening. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere and ambiance first class and of course, the main event; the food was good. It is a little pricey but well worth it.

BYO Thursday evening. Very good (as usual) confit de canard and the sea bass. Friendly service. Quite a good number of customers for mid week. Good mix too of customers

We go here regularly and always have a fine meal and great service. The main menu is varied and the specials are also very good. We will continue to go

Shambolic, rushed service, pushy waitress telling me what I'd like rather than asking. Lacklustre food. Overcharged 20 quid when the bill arrived. Won't go again. Would not recommend.

As always, excellent food, service and ambiance! We have visited this restaurant many times and will keep coming back! We ordered from the main menu but the set menu also offers a really good range of choices.

Very good food and good atmosphere! Great service. Unfortunately, it's about 20% too expensive overall. A dinner for two people with no dessert was £100!

Very disappointed. It was a special occasion so took my parents to celebrate. We waited about an hour for starters. With the main course frites we're cold. They were replaced quickly though. We didn't pay the added service charge of 12.5%. Not one to recommend. We were told it was busy because it was Saturday evening. Not my problem.

We love this chef-owned restaurant. Sea-bass was so good we ended up talking to the neighbouring table about it. Well worth the trip - a destination restaurant.

The food was excellent and, although the service was fine, the staff could have been a little more visible on occasion - it occasionally took a while to get another drink.

Very friendly service. Good but not complicated food. Pleased to see Malcolm John there in person. Reasonable number of customers for his Valentine Dinner on a Sunday evening

Very good food, steak and oysters were superb, service was good except we had to keep asking to get our waters refilled which was a small but important detail

Fab food, great friendly service. Perfect local restaurant. All our food was excellent, lots of choice, hard to choose. Only criticism.. The salted caramel tart needed more creme fraiche

Typical brasserie food cooked to a better than average standard with decent wine. Service mostly fine, sometimes really good. Midwinter heating a bit hit and miss - too much or too little. Pleased with our choice, nice atmospheric dining.

Maybe the kitchen was too busy during this festive season the food was not the usual high standard. Service was great as usual and the atmosphere was cheerful.

Friendly staff, it is a shame this is not backed up by the quality of the chef, worse main course I have had in years.

Very good food and service. You would not be disappointed. Nice atmosphere and the bar works well for pre dinner drinks. Dover sole with Razor clams very nice.

A good value meal in pleasant surroundings. Free corkage on Thursdays is a great idea for people on a budget. In our group, everyone ordered the steak. One of the steaks turned out to be full of gristle and virtually inedible. To give the restaurant their due, the restaurant refunded that course for that person without prompting. A great local restaurant.

My girlfriend and I decided to go last minute after wondering what to eat. Remembering a recommendation from a friend we made the booking online which was extremely easy. We were promptly and politely greeted and received excellent service throughout the evening. Each course was delicious and nicely presented. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu and will also recommend to more friends.

Authentically French menu, décor and flavours. Friendly and helpful staff. My food was tasty but my companion's rare sirloin steak was too tough. Replaced with a fillet steak without fuss. We enjoyed our first Brasserie Vacherin experience (in Sutton) so much, we tried this other one in South Croydon.

We have been here several times for lunch and dinner. A late Sunday brunch today was perfect. A relaxed atmosphere and good food and service

An excellent meal served with a relaxed but professional approach. We had the brunch and the only fault I would find is that, had I been vegetarian, I would have had little real choice.

Whilst as usual the food was very good there was nobody at the door to welcome us, we had to ask for menu's and we jus weren't made to feel particularly welcome !

Perhaps Monday lunch is not the best time to visit to ensure a full menu selection - no Dover Sole or Rib Eye, which was a shame. Otherwise nice food and friendly service.

Brasserie Vacherin never ceases to disappoint. Good food served in a relaxed atmosphere. A glass of Cote de Provence rose and a fag on the lovely terrace is pure bliss.

The seafood grill was a little disappointing, 1 prawn is exactly that. 1 prawn. Crab Tagliatelle was super and the wine and beer very reasonably priced...

Food was acceptable/okay, service and time for food to arrive was slow. For the price and the additional discount it was good value, but pretty average experience overall.
