Bristol’s biggest food lovers are raving about Casa Mexicana, and for good reason. Serving up Mexican cuisine that goes far beyond the usual nachos and burritos we’ve come to associate the cuisine with, Casa Mexicana stands out for its commitment to authenticity, its generous portions and its knowledgeable service team. The restaurant’s location on Zetland Road, just down the street from Redland station, is incredibly convenient, allowing locals from across the Bristol area to stop in for amazing food and ambience in the heart of Redland.
Casa Mexicana has been turning up the heat over on Bristol’s Zetland Road since its establishment way back in 1986. Despite offering some of the city’s top Mexican dishes, Casa Mexicana in Redland keeps prices affordable, giving guests the freedom to try a hearty new dish each time they visit. From burritos to churros, Casa Mexicana has a lengthy list of dishes that provide a well-rounded representation of Mexican cuisine, all served in an environment that’s traditional and comfortable.
Start your meal at Casa Mexicana in Bristol’s Redland by ordering a starter like the spicy beef nachos, jalapeno relleno or the tasty Cajun salmon marinated in olive oil and Mexican spice. There are an array of mains including fajitas, burritos and chimichangas, but where the restaurant really shines is in its list of specials with dishes like puerco carnita, slow-roasted pork with apricot chutney, sour cream, and tomato salsa, the camerones de la casa or the incredible duck and chorizo cassoulet, a Mexican-style stew made with chorizo, duck, beans and tortillas. Book ahead!
Great Food. Great Atmosphere. You won't be dissapointed. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is superb. If you like Mexican, you'll love it!
Quite slow service but it was very busy so also make sure you are clear on what you order because we had a few things brought to us that we didn't order! Amazing food though.
Lovely restaurant and delicious vegan options (with vegan cheese!) tasty cocktails and a really friendly vibe. Had a really enjoyable experience and would recommend to family and friends.
Fantastic food. First time we’ve tried a Mexican restaurant. Very impressed, had a starter, but the star of the show was the main course. Had beef Chimichanga. A deep fried beef dish. Took one bite of it and I was speechless. Never tasted anything so flavoursome before. Every mouthful was a delight. Four of us went, four empty plates at end of meal. Good service, friendly staff. Will definitely return in the future, would definitely recommend this restaurant. Booking is advisable, was busy (on a Saturday night).
Mixed feelings about our trip to Casa Mexicana. Booked it for my daughter's 20th birthday as it was one of the first Mexican restaurants her dad and I ever went to nearly 25 years ago. Hadn't been back since and though the food was good it was not spectacular and the restaurant was packed which meant we were stuck in a corner of one the back rooms with hardly any room to put the dishes on and felt rushed through our meal. My daughter's drink order came very late and my coffee very early so I ended up sipping my rosé along with my coffee. On the positive we were late and they were very accommodating for a table for 4 and our waitress, Charlie, was brilliant and very attentive. I am glad I went back but this is where my trip down this particular memory lane will stop I am afraid.
Our evening meal at Casa Mexicana was a very enjoyable experience. Service was prompt and friendly. We have learnt from previous experience not to go overboard on the starters, as the main meal portions are quite filling; a regular size Casa Nachos was fine to share between two. This was followed by vegetarian chimichanga (for me) and the shredded pork with apricot chutney (for my wife), both delicious. For drinks we stuck to beer and lemonade, but they also have a reasonable selection of wine by the glass. Our advice is to always book ahead; they were nowhere near full on a cold Wednesday in February, but they can get crowded at more popular times.
This was our second trip to Casa Mexicana. Lovely food (again), and prompt, friendly, attentive service. Also really enjoyed the atmosphere this time--we were seated in an alcove nearer the back of the restaurant, where most of the tables were for two. Even though CM was packed, because of where we were seated we didn't have any difficulty hearing each other. We'll be going back, and possibly ask for the same table!
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at Casa Mexicana. We had 2 children under 2 with us which can be very stressful but the staff were amazing, making us feel very welcome and seated us to help with space requirements. Our food was delicious and plenty of it. Will be going back now we have found this little gem!
Excellent customer service, generous portion sizes, and extremely tasty food. Don’t confuse Casa Mexicana with other ‘franchise’ restaurants. This little gems defines the standard in good quality, authentic Mexican cuisine, mixed with the chefs seasonal specials. Whilst the restaurant was very busy on our visit, this had no impact on the quality of service we received.
Casa Mexicana is a friendly face although deceptively big, thanks to clever seating and different recesses feels surprisingly cosy. The food was delicious, we all had different meals and they arrived together and hot. The flavours were amazing. Staff were friendly and attentive. I think I've found my new favourite restaurant.
