For several years now, to happy residents and hungry visitors to Hartford, mention of the word ‘chime’ has evoked feelings of comfort, excitement and pleasure that the ding of an old village church bell could never match. Blending brilliant food, fantastic wines and a unique venue on Chester Road, Chime Hartford is making a name for itself much further afield than Northwich. Floating effortlessly between wine bar, gourmet family restaurant and prime function venue, Chime Hartford is sure to provide the backdrop for a memorable experience whatever the occasion.
Chime Hartford, in the refurbished former post office on Chester Road in Hartford not far from central Northwich, is shifting the paradigm of what a wine bar can be. Chime Hartford is not a red-velvet den where bar snacks and small plates are about the extent of dining options. No, this hidden Northwich gem is as serious about beautiful food as they are about fine wine. Produce is sourced from trusted local suppliers and transformed with passion and care into a mouth-watering encyclopedia of choices in brunch, lunch and evening menus.
The classic cote de boeuf and gorgeous pizzas from Chime Hartford’s authentic pizza oven are hard to resist. But lesser known specialties dotted around the menu, such as wild boar pate with ginger, really enforce why people have started travelling explicitly to sample Chime Hartford for themselves. The space and design of Chime Hartford also illustrates how it is not like many other wine bars. Plentiful windows and skylights bathe the place in natural light during the day, and the sympathetic balance of brick walls, wooden beams and quirky modern furnishings makes it a cosy though not suffocating venue by night. Throw in the superb selection of wines and top-shelf cocktails, and you already have a pile of reasons to visit Northwich.
Fantastic food, great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Would go there again and highly recommend to anyone. The flatbread pizzas are amazing and would recommend the gin cocktails.
Reserved a table for two with ease on line. Friendly staff, showing excellent customer service. Good choice on the lunch menu, drinks menu too!! Love delicious meal
Lovely food great service and the lady was polite efficient but also funny, it always provides a friendly atmosphere which allows us to relax whilst enjoying good food & nice wine
Table reserved on line just as I requested i.e. normal table on the ground floor. Service good, food excellent. very pleasant surroundings. Will certainly go again.
We are massive fans of Chime but our experience tonight left us feeling very dissapointed. We were met by a host who barely cracked a smile and took us to the bottom of the stairs and said go up and the waitress will show you to your table, we get to the top of the stairs and stood for 5 minutes whilst the waitress was serving another table. She then had no idea who we were or why we were stood there so then had to repeat everything said to the host again which felt awkward. The menu is not as good as before. I had crab linguine which was very gritty and the linguine over cooked rendering it almost inedible. I went to the toilets, the toilet itself was disgusting and there was toilet paper all over the floor, wall paper ripped, no hand wash and a broken hand dryer. When Chime first opened it was a special place but it feels as though there is complacency which has let it down. Decide for yourself but we will be giving it a miss for a while to give them opportunity to train the staff, improve the menu and smarten it up. A shame.
What lovely experience we had at chime! The host of the restaurant was very welcoming and bubbly who showed us to our table. We had a new waitress serve us who told us it was her first shift (you wouldn't have noticed as she was amazing), she couldn't do enough for us and was very tentative with no waiting! My partner and I had just returned from our holiday and were craving some British food so we both went for the burger which was as amazing as always! We love Chime as it's a beautiful decor with welcoming staff and delicious food (for a very reasonable price!)! I'm so glad we have somewhere like this so local. Can't wait for my next visit! I'd love it if they brought the white cookie dough desssert back, it was to die for!!
Chime is one of those restaurants that does exactly what it says it will... provides excellent service, delicious food and the cocktails are divine. They always strive to keep the customers returning by updating the menu regularly. Of course they always keep some old favourites but the selection of dishes on offer make it hard to choose and often it can be a test of wills not to order more than one. The cocktails themselves are enough to get myself and my partner returning; a personal favourite is the Elderflower Bellini. You won't be disappointed. A definite plus point is their willingness to adhere to any requests regarding dishes and customer requests.
We would like to say a great big thank you to Chime for making our Christmas Day. We had a fabulous day and all the team made us feel welcome and at home. The service and food were fantastic and we would definitely do it again. Happy Christmas and all the best for New year Chimes 😊🎄👍🏻
Another superb evening out at Chime. I took four girlfriends who'd never been before and we all had a lovely time. The menu was varied and we were spoilt for choice and when the food arrived it was delicious. The staff and service was as good as always. Well done Chime
Had a lovely afternoon celebrating my sister in laws birthday, lovely surroundings, friendly atmosphere and prompt service, the cocktails went down very well and the food was delicious. There is only one thing I could fault and that is that I felt the music was just a little too loud, so we had to shout to have a conversation, but that didn't stop us from having a wonderful afternoon, Thankyou Chime :)
