Côte Bishop's Stortford

My son booked to take my mother and I for mother’s day brunch. We are a tricky bunch, a vegetarian, an eccentric grandma and a super fussy child with add. The wonderful staff could not have been more accommodating or polite. Everyone’s little demands were met with charm and humour and a delicious relaxed brunch. Full credit to the team

We had a great meal and great service thank you.

The meal was delightful and the food delicious. The evening was somewhat spoiled, sadly, by the concentration of staff given to a large party in another room. Our main course was served piecemeal; those with meat dishes being served a full 10 minutes before those who chose fish, so the vegetable side dishes became cold and had to be reheated and the meat eaters had almost finished by the time the fish arrived. The greatest bugbear was not having any waiting staff to sort it out. We were deserted. However, we were compensated with a reasonable redemption on our drinks bill which we accepted. Next time though, should there be a similar situation, I hope the logistics of service are planned more successfully so that no one is left without somebody to attend to them. It will result in a 5 star review!

We usually eat at your Bury St Edmunds Branch so it was nice to have a change at Bishop’s Stortford. The staff were courteous and helpful. We enjoyed the Kir Royales beforehand and the food was good.

I would recommend the vegetarian breakfast. It tastes really healthy and fresh. The staff are friendly. My friend was impressed and said she wants to comes again. Soon.

A wonderful Mother’s Day Lunch. Food was delicious and the service excellent. Will definitely visit again. Have visited many Cote restaurants from Cambridge to Bath and Bishops Stortford has been the best so far.

The noise level was better than previous visits. Service was very good, but the waitress didn't fully comprehend my fairly well done" for my steak after my son had said "medium" for his. Mine was slightly over done. but the waitress was excellent otherwise - attentive, cheerful and bright. We are fairly regfular visitors and will go again soon.

We had a lovely lunch 3 courses from the set menu. Everything was well cooked and well presented.

Good food/atmosphere. Very amusing/attentive young waiter. What is there not to like? We come often - haven’t had a disappointing visit yet!

Service was pretty horrific. Staff lovely but obviously not enough. Took over 35 mins to be served. Starter came out cold. Not the best meal i have had.

has good napkins and food but needs tablecloths. all good proper premium bistros (of which this is one) have tablecloths. there is a penny-pinching under-manager at private equity attitude displayed by not having tablecloths. if I want to eat off a wooden table I'll either go the pub or eat in my kitchen.

Had a very enjoyable evening. A friendly welcome and the requested table was available for us. Lovely meal as usual. The Waiting staff were very attentive.

Our 2 friends who had the steak, didn't think it was that good. Also the green beans and sauce was forgotten. However, the other 3 of us enjoyed our meal. A reduction to the price was offered and appreciated. I think they were short staffed on Thursday evening.

We frequently have an excellent early evening dinner at Cote, usually on a Friday. Last Saturday was not so great. The olives were mushy, as though they had been recycled. The boudin was very good. The French onion soup was sort of OK. My duck confit seemed stale. The chicken was not as fresh as usual. Its gratinee was excellent.

We normally enjoy the Cote experience, but in this case it was spoiled by: - the restaurant was uncomfortably cold, even sitting at the back. The front door needs proper draught protection - the waiter was pushing to sell extras, served me before my wife and generally made eye contact with me rather than both of us. His attitude could have been better - we came early at 6.15, but the main course took so long to arrive that we had to leave in a hurry without having a desert as we had to get to a concert - staff were friendly otherwise and food good quality and value

We always enjoy Cote but last night food was exceptional. We have a new manager, Laura who was really happy and looked after us really well. Just wish her placement was permanent.

All five of us really enjoyed out meal and time spent in the Bishops Stortford Cote yesterday. The restaurant was very busy but the service as always was very good.

Had the basic set meal, ratatouille and goats cheese followed by the chicken, both so tasty. Côte beat competitors hands down for set menu price and quality

It is always a treat to have a meal at Cote Brasserie. We wanted to celebrate a birthday and also to enjoy the Chateaubriand which was on for a special. Everything from the booking, the welcome and the meal itself worked very well and although the restaurant was busy for a Tuesday night, the friendly and efficient staff produced a 100% satisfactory experience. And although we felt we dined like royalty with a bottle of big name red wine, the bill was very modest. We shall certainly hope to be repeating the experience soon. Highly recommended!

Lovely food, great service and very family friendly but also would suit for a romantic meal and parties for adults. Took my daughter as a valentines treat with her friend. Both kids and I enjoyed. Refreshing to see gluten free diet well catered for too.

A wonderful anniversary meal. Juts the right atmosphere and, of course, excellent food. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection and the Cornish new potatoes were sweet and succulent. We will be back!

Very disappointed. I have been to Cote many times with friends and loved it. Today I brought my family for Easter Sunday and was really upset with the service. I had my Grandchildren aged 1 and 3 and they had to sit for ages. The service was awful. The waitress more or less asked me why I was complaining. We spent over £300 for bad service, cold starters but good main courses. Also we shouldn’t have had to wait 30 minutes for a drink. I will not recommend to friends now. I know I booked the table for 4pm but I still expected good service, polite staff and hot food. You should not accept a booking if you cannot offer the goods.

A bit noisy - as usual, Went eafrly last night and thought it woulde be quitter because of the westher - it wasn't.

Overall a pleasant dining experience in comfortable surroundings and seating. Staff attentive and good service despite being busy. The food was hot, well cooked and off good standard.Free Gin cocktails an added bonus!

Good value for money, nice food and attentive service. We eat at Cote a lot, particularly Bishops Stortford and it’s always a nice experience with friendly staff. If it’s a birthday celebration they always make it special.

The food was lovely but the service was very poor. We were left far too long after arriving then the drinks and the food were very slow. Felt completely invisible

Food was very good but overall far too rushed. We felt like we were on a timer throughout. My husband picked at my plate and was asked if they could take the plate away when I went to the bathroom. Staff need to chill!

Very good food and nice choice. Good gluten free menu. Waiters brought wrong beer asked for low alcohol and gave us normal good thing we noticed. Complementary cocktails on arrival were lovely.

Noon, Bank holiday Monday I booked a table for 4 persons for the family as we were going on Holiday. We had to leave at 1.50pm to catch the flight. The restaurant was not busy and yet it took one hour to get the starters. We did not have time for a dessert or Coffee and our relaxed meal turned out to be an anxious wait. Although they took off quite a portion of the bill, all we wanted was to be served.

Great service, made mum and I feel very welcome for lunch. Tasty food and a good selection. Cote has proved itself a reliable option in the local town, I use regularly.

Good food, good service. All staff very pleasant and helpful nice and friendly. The atmosphere was buzzy without being too noisy. On a cold night, it was lovely and warm inside.

The menu offered an array of choice. The complimentary cocktail was very nice and the wine we chose was liked by all. The staff were friendly and attentive without being over baring.
