Service was ridiculously slow!! For all courses the wait was just too long had to wait over 40 mins for lemon tart and cream brûlée
Great food and service and a lovely free bottle of wine. Our food was with us in no time as was any extras we asked for. Really pleasant atmosphere. The toilets are freezing though!
A lovely meal, well presented and served by attentive staff. A very pleasant pre-Birthday lunch. Kir Royales weren't bad either!
Food delicious as usual that’s the main reason for going plus free cocktails. Pleasant surroundings, A clean and tidy restaurant plus staff polite and professional.
Cote has an authentic French bistro feel, form the excellent plate of charcuterie enjoyed as a starter through the main of grilled swordfish with beans and a side of tartiflette everything was perfectly prepared and served at a relaxed pace with no fuss. The good value bottle of Chinon with which we washed it all down was also deliceous and very French. Finished off with an excellent crème brulle it all made for a very enjoyable evening.
Another very pleasant lunch at cote. Consistently good, in all respects!
Couldn't do enough for us. I am gluten free, garlic free and dairy free. There was actually a menu with different choices and they also provided decaff tea and coffee - the best meal out in a very long time! The other 4 in the party were also very impressed and the staff actually made us feel welcome and took my needs seriously - a great young team and shining example of the younger generation! Would definitely visit again. Sadly myself and my husband don't live in Bishop Stortford but hope that other restaurants deliver the same excellent service!
As always, very reliable food, tasty well cooked. Staff were cheerful and attentive with a warm welcome on a cold night. Prestige set menu very good value.
An 80th Birthday lunch for six at Bishop's Stortford Cote. Complementary gin cocktails got us started, with a smile. Everybody had a different dish to start from the wide range of menus including ala carte options and gluten-free. Waiting was quietly efficient and very attentive. For mains, we had classics such as French onion soup and beef bourguignon, with delicious desserts including another Cote classic; Creme Brule and a brilliantly simple, yet satisfying apple crumble. A round table made for easy conversation and we were delighted by the 'Happy Birthday' message, thoughtfully penned in chocolate on the birthday boy's plate! All-in-all it's a full 10/10 for the complete experience; staff, food, and venue were all perfect. We'll be back.
Enjoyed a lovely family birthday meal. Food was good and staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. Our first visit and we’d happily return. Thanks for a great evening.
Had salads and both were very nice, service was good and free rhubarb martini was very tasty so all good
Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent value for money - particularly if you are early enough to order from the fixed lunch/early evening menu which ALWAYS has a good selection of choices
A lovely Saturday evening dinner at Cote yesterday. Really enjoyed the food and a nice bottle of wine after dry January 😊. A very cold evening and what is usually a pretty window table was a bit chilly but not much the restaurant can do. A nice buzzy vibe.
A lovely Saturday morning brunch with friends. Nice relaxed atmosphere. No pressure to leave table. Good food and value for money we will definitely return. Excellent
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. There was some confusion with the bill and we were charged incorrectly for two items. They rectified the issue quickly once we pointed it out and that’s the only reason we deducted one star.
What a fantastic evening. Food was wonderful. Staff amazing. Alanis was brilliant a real credit to your restaurant. Would highly recommend. Looking forward to coming back later in the month.
Great decor and atmosphere albeit a little crowded. We both booked for Valentine’s Day and the service was attentive and professional, however the food wasn’t as adventurous as I would have hoped in terms of flavour. Overall a good night and will be back again.
Another lovely meal in very pleasant surroundings. Staff very attentive and professional as always. Good start to the Easter break. Will be back again soon.

Great Management and staff, been coming for many years and never disappointed with service and there knowledge of their business and products. A long with this it is good to have some friendly banter before the meal. I would like to thank all the staff lead by Pavel, Marlene, Telmo. These are some of the many reasons why we return week after week. You come away with a good will factor which you take away with you and talk all the way home.
Terrible service, one in our group got her starter when we'd all finished, another got her main course when we'd all finished, it was also wrong but by this stage we were thoroughly fed up! Repeated complaints by us and eventually the manager came over and offered the starter's for free, also bottle of wine. This was before the debacle of the main courses! Second manager came over near the end of the meal, pretty stroppy and very defensive. Waiter was awful, no apologies. Sort this restaurant out! Despite the awful service the food was good, but we'll never go back. It really spoilt my birthday celebration.
Consistently good food, value and service. The lunch menus had lots of good choices, we wanted to swap starters from the basic set menu, no problem, the Normandy chicken was excellent. Keep it up !
Having Dined at Cote on a regular basis , its always a pleasure to enjoy the range of differing foods and wines on offer, in a relaxed environment and decor .
a couple of comments which slightly detracted from the usual excellence - food too salty, especially the courgettes in breadcrumbs - the service was excellent quality but a bit stretched maybe because you were short of staff
Booked a table for two for 20:00 on arrival asked to wait as table wasn't ready although plenty of empty tables on view, waited 15 minutes at the door feeling a little bit awkward. Log time before waitress finally came to our table. Asked if we would like any bread and olives and took food order, started came after around 25 minutes wait - no olives or bread - asked for them to be taken off of the bill. Main order took a long time to be served, relatively simple Rib eye steak and frites! Small side orders. Dessert again took a very long time to be served. Didn't finish meal until around 11:00. We had just been away to Madrid for a long weekend all of the restaurants visited were much quicker food better and value for money better. To top it all there was a 12.5% service charge!!!! which I asked to be removed and did not leave a tip, which is very unlike me. Apologies to give negative feedback but its a shame, the Bishops Stortford restaurant is in a prime position and is decorated quite nicely and usually a good atmosphere.
Super meal, super staff, lovely atmosphere. Cotes is real asset to Bishops Stortford
I have booked several times with my friends and always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. There is always a nice selection of dishes on the menus and the overall atmosphere is good. A bit noisy at times.
Good food, great service, lovely atmosphere what more could one want!
As always excellent and the staff were amazing. I had some Dutch family members over for the Easter weekend and they had such a good time we came back for breakfast on Easter Monday before they returned home. Great times thank you.
Very pleasant pre-theatre dinner. Fine food, courteous service from all staff members and reasonably priced dinner. Thank you. We'll be back! Cotes is ideally situated and comfortable.
First time visit and certainly won’t be my last, food delicious, service very good, waiting staff polite but friendly. Good value for money, can’t wait for next visit.
Excellent food, great service, couldn’t fault it. Very nice place to eat
Lovely food really tasty , would definitely go there again. Nice atmosphere and lady that served us was very attentive and friendly. Great place to have our breakfast
We went for dinner and a girlie catch up the service was great. Our cocktails were lovely and we had a really nice evening. The restaurant was busy and buzzy.
We went last Friday 17/5. Sadly my meal was luke warm and after sending it back it returned a bit warmer but the pork crackling had gone soft. I guess it was microwaved to heat it up. The other meals in our party were OK but I did hear someone next to us having to send their steak back. So overall, this visit was not a good experience. Chris C
only excepting pre booked due to flood in kitchen ! They should have cancelled everyone. Zero atmosphere and poor food. Waste of our money and time.
Very friendly and helpful staff, delicious food. Very busy as it was mother's day and they were rushed off their feet but the staff still provided fab service.
Service excellent. Chefs seem to have no idea about cuisance For the second time we have been served with either undercooked it over cooked meat. If you ask for medium: rare it comes up saignant/ if you ask for Med - well done - it comes up / the same NOT GOOD ENOUGH...

Nice meal with friendly staff, thanks for a nice evening.
Great food and service as always. thank you . .
Lovely - very accommodating ! Staff were very helpful and friendly. Atmosphere was lovely and food was very tasty. When adjustments were asked for due to dietary needs they were able to accommodate.
The welcome drink was nice. Salmon starter was good as was the prawn starter from the regular meu. The sea bass was enjoyable but the duck was the standout dish as ever. We were disappointed that the monkfish was finished though. The house white wine was also pretty nice.Service was ok, staff seem to have changed and whilst ok a bit less attentative than previously. This remains a good dining option at a reasonable price for Boshop’s Stortford. The duck alone is worth it!!!!
This was the worst meal I’ve had at Côte and I will NEVER return. Bad service. My severe nut allergy was forgotten about and I was served a dish that ‘may contain nuts’ My salad was dead and I wouldn’t have served it to my worst enemy My steak was full of fat and was inedible. I am very disappointed and will never return.
The service has got really slow recently and it never used to be like this. We had to wait ages for our food to come out and it was only when it was about to come out that they told us how long it would be. This has happened a few times now, we used to go there every Saturday but it wouldn't be my first choice now due to the poor service. The staff are very friendly it is just the waiting time
Great food and service every time. That's why we keep coming back.
Excellent service, it was my birthday and we were given complimentary kir, our food was lovely & well presented, great ambience & attentive staff, thank you, will definitely recommend

There was too great a feeling of urgency from staffed to complete courses. It does not provide for a more social or private dining experience.
Had an enjoyable celebratory meal with my wife. We had asked for a quiet table and we were accommodated very nicely. Our order was a variation of the one on the menu, and again this caused no problem. The service was attentive. We were told how long the meal would take to prepare, so we ordered more drinks, and these came promptly. Our fillet steaks were cooked and rested perfectly. I thought the pepper sauce had a little to much acidity (probably from lemon juice). My wife thought her gratin potatoes had a little too much garlic. But neither was too much to spoil the meal.
Our first time at Cote Brasserie in Bishops Stortford (normally go to St Albans) and we weren't disappointed. I had booked a table for 4 at 3:00pm on Mothers day. On our arrival we were informed by a person that I believe to be the manager, that our table was not ready. He apologised, gave us a complimentary bottle of Champagne and asked us if we would mind sitting in the garden until our table was ready, This was not a problem as the patio heating was on full blast and it was a pleasant afternoon. No sooner had we sat down, a waitress appeared with the Champagne and glasses, popped the cork and we settled in for the afternoon. Within minutes we were then told that our table was ready and we transferred back into the restaurant and had a wonderful meal. The customer service comfortably met our expectations and more. Well done to all the staff at Bishops Stortford.
Great food and friendly staff Service was good Will certainly be going back Heard the breakfast is good so must try for myself. Good variety on menu
A very enjoyable evening, good food and good service. We will come again although a little more expensive than Cafe Rouge the wine is better!
