Food was extremely slow arriving (starters and mains). One apology from the servers but no explanation. The flat bread for starter was overcooked. We were told only toilets upstairs so to sit up there and as one of our party is not very mobile this was very difficult.Surely there must be at least a disabled toilet downstairs.Have been to Cote several times before including other cities but sorry we won't go again.

I have tried many dishes from the menu and they have all been well cooked and very tasty. I struggle sometimes to choose from the menu because there are so many dishes that I have tried and enjoyed. The staff are pleasant and attentive. There are not that many restaurants in Chester that can be trusted to cater for coeliacs but Cotes is one of them. Well worth a try!

We enjoyed the ambiance. The fish soup was very tasty but for me the veal escalope was a little oily. We found the bottles of beer to be a little expensive.

Waited two hours from siting down to receiving our main meals, when the food finally arrived, one of the meals was totally wrong, and the food was pretty average. Nice restaurant and staff were lovely but waiting and the food didn't make up for it unfortunately.

Lovely food. Good to see a gluten free menu with so many gluten free choices available ~ the creme caramel was fantastic. The Service was quick and attentive.

We were a group of 'locals', but enjoy French food and culture. September specials were delicious. Charming service, excellent food and lovely wine. Main fish courses superb. And the crepes were simply marvellous. A very good evening.

The food (from the lunch menu) and wine were delicious and service was excellent. We liked the fact that still water was provided. We would have liked to have bread on table and to order smaller quantities than a full bottle of house wine (carafes of 1l, 75cl, 50cl and 25cl of house wine are sold in France). Overall, we had a very positive experience and will be back!

The staff that served us were really lovely. The reason for the score is down to a few disappointments with the food. One of our party ordered the vegetarian sausages which looked very dark brown and we dry. For starter i had the anchovies on flat bread. I specifically asked about what type the anchovies were, to be told they weren't the small oily and salty ones and that they were stored in brine. They were actually the small and salty ones. This dish wpuld be so much nicer with fresh or pickled anchovies not the salty ones. One guest had the confit duck, which came with sauteed potatoes, no other veggies. There needs to be some more veg on plate or advice to order a side. And lastly the salad the other guest ordered, was served in a pyrex bowl and wasn't very well presented. Elements of the meal were lovely, and overall because of the friendliness of the staff, we had a nice evening. I think some further attention to detail on the menu, would elevate the experience to a 5*.

Nice restaurant, food nice, did not like the service charge (12.5%) being already added to bill.Easy to find by most city centre attractions, lots of other bars restaurants around.

I do not usually have the prix fixe, but on this occasion I did. The croquettes were excellent as was the steak frites. Remarkable value. My glass of Bordeaux seemed expensive - but it was good. The service was slick and attentive, but not over so. Will return!

The Cote Brasserie chain are really raising the ante in value for money dining out. WE have visited Cote in Shrewsbury 5 times now and on today's visit to Chester we took our daughter to Cote there and were delighted to find the same value for money and service.

The duck confit was excellent the wine was delicious and not over priced. Service was spot on, the only downside is the service charge that is not clearly identified on the menu. I know of it and always ask for it to be removed, and tip separately but at least two groups of dinners were taken aback by it

I picked Cotes Brasserie after reading several excellent reviews on Trip Advisor and we weren't disappointed. I originally booked a table for 5.00pm but the play we were seeing was late finishing so I rang the restaurant to explain that we would be a little late - not a problem. When we arrived, we were shown upstairs to a spacious dining area and ushered into a booth and offered drinks - our waiter was fabulous, very friendly and accommodating, recommending drinks and food. Unfortunately, I didn't get his name. He recommended the fougasse to start and it was as delicious as he said it would be - soft and fluffy, garlicky, buttery and herby. After this, we had 3 items off the lighter mains part of the menu - a tuna Nicoise, a chicken & walnut salad and risotto vert - and also the 1/2 Breton chicken with frites and french beans. All the food was delicious - clean plates all round! With a little room left, we all had desserts and coffee. With a few drinks, the total bill for 4 of us came to £122 - this included a 12% gratuity, which is of course discretionary. However, the wait staff had more earned it so we were happy to leave it on the bill. We thought this constituted great value, given what we had eaten and the service we had received. Thank you Cotes Brasserie - we will be back.

Very good value set price menu. Delicious. Service adequate. Annoyed to find after leaving that we'd paid an inclusive high service charge. Would prefer to pay by choice and amount I deem suitable at the time.

Beautiful concept complimented by top draw service and food. Realistically priced with set menu at £10.95 before 7pm. It's sublime!! The food is predominantly Frech themed, as you'd expect so don't expect a Pizza

Excellent service - experience only slightly spoilt by one of our main courses coming a long time after the others and being a bit under-par. Otherwise, lovely food and wine and really great staff. They knocked the late meal off the bill too so good customer service. I would go back.

First visit - thanks to gift cards! Food excellent, service very courteous and surroundings great. Just one niggle, it is better to leave gratuities to the customers discretion rather than expecting the customer to ask for it to be reduced if the 12.5% added was thought to be somewhat excessive (or not sufficient). This aspect we found unsatisfactory and will have an impact on our decision on future visits.

Great food and service, never fails to impress. Fantastic to have staff who have the knowledge of what gluten free actually means especially for those of us who are coeliac as eating out can be a 'risk' but not in Cote. It would be lovely to see a gluten free childrens menu so many venues forget there are thousands of children who are coeliacs (my son included) and they want to eat similar food to others if you are eating out as a group.

Slight mistake in bringing the excellent prawns starter before we had finished the sourdough & olives. Otherwise the service & food was excellent. Arrived on Chester Races day, but totally looked after with a first class table to avoid the exuberant racegoers upstairs. A kind though & an act that will bring us back. Thank you.
