Excellent place for a relaxed family meal with a quality menu which works for adults and children alike. Service was great. Location suited us well in central Edinburgh.

Booked a table but wasn't ready and initial service was slow despite it not being overly busy. However food was excellent once it arrived and good value at £10.95 for two courses.

Excellent meal - good service - a bit noisy but only to be expected at Festival time. 12.5 service charge a bit cheeky but would still return.

Excellent set menu this month, as usual. We both had the cured pork loin with celeriac remoulade, followed by Hake and Poulet Grille, I couldn't fault any of the dishes. Service friendly and efficient.

A generous choice of starters and mains, all well prepared and presented. Excellent value for classically based courses. Only weekness is the lunch dessert selection which doesn't really change.

A long lunch today with three friends from the à la carte menu. Great food in classic French style. Friendly service and a pleasant ambience.

we had excellent service the waiters were always there but were not intrusive. we had a very tasty chicken and bacon salad followed by the best creme caramel I have tasted in a long time . My friend had two scoops of ice cream and declared the chocolate to be delicious.A nice touch was having the li e for my lime and soda served separately.

Always a pleasant experience to eat at Cote. Food is fresh, delicious and prepared to a high standard. Staff are always welcoming and very friendly.

Great welcome and very attentive service from cheery helpful staff, offering a wide choice on the menu and producing good tasty food. We'll be back.

A busy restaurant in a good location. Good food at reasonable prices. You may need to book at busy periods. We will definitely return again.

Excellent service from the waiter - friendly, helpful, interested but not intrusive. Each course was well presented and the quality of the food was impressive. The all-inclusive three course lunch was very reasonable and there was a wide choice. The tables were well spaced out so you could have a good conversation. Highly recommended!

As always the food was excellent with a varied choice. The service was good and not hurried. The staff were extremely pleasant and very attentive. Will definitely be back again.

We were a party of four and all greatly enjoyed our meal. The only niggle was the 12.5% tip automatically added to the bill unless you ask for it not to be; one of our guests was paying for the meal and we found this aspect of the evening quite embarrassing.

Food and service were very good. Only reason that we did not give top marks is because the large room at the back where we were seated was too airy.

We had a lovely lunch, food really good, looked after extremely well, not our first visit to Cote always a pleasure. Good value and always a splendid menu selection.

This was a return visit today having previously visited early evening. Good food, good service with a good value for money lunch menu. Would definitely recommend.

Good value for money; pleasant, helpful staff and very pleasant environment. One of our group required a gluten-free meal which was catered for very well.

We had a very good lunch having chosen the fixed price menu. The service was friendly and efficient and there was a relaxed and welcoming ambience.

Ok, One of the side dishes for a main course was completely forgotten about, waiter apologised but it spoilt the experience and one of the diners left still hungry.

Good food and service. Quantity a bit lacking both on mussels and frites side but tasty nonetheless. 12.5% should not automatically be added. This has been imported from London but does not go down well in Scotland where people prefer to decide for themselves what to tip. The norm is usually 5-10% for good service in any case. This policy alone would prevent me from returning.

Went to restaurant for breakfast. Excellent meal with good variety of choices. Very attentive service from all staff. Will certainly make a return visit and recommend to others.

This was my first time at Cote - very good menu, warm atmosphere, good attentive service and good value for money. I will definitely return.

Meal & staff excellent but I do not like tips added on to the bill.I would always give a tip if service is good but what I think is appropriate.

My poached eggs were undercooked and the manager was very apologetic and got me a new plate of eggs royal and didn't pay for it. Also, we get a free eggs royale on our next visit for brunch. Lovely gesture.

Friendly waiter. Good food. The only problem was that there are not enough light. We will go again in the future. We enjoy a lot the dinner.

This was the second visit to Cote in Edinburgh in addition to visits in Liverpool and York. The food and service has been very good in all venues and the value for money, especially for the lunch and early evening menus is excellent. Would recommend this chain of restaurants.

Overall we had a very pleasant evening with good service and excellent food. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Not sure that I like the idea of adding service to the bill in advance.

This was my 3rd visit to Cote.The food was delicious, the service impeccable and the ambience welcoming and lively .I was entertaining American visitors they were very impressed

My husband and I had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. We did the early bird 3 course dinner-great deal!

Very nice meal as usual from Cote..staff very attentive and chatty..my only small gripe was the entrance door has a very loud bang when left to shut on its own..small I know but but annoying.

Service was terrible! Our main course arrived before our starter which then took half an hour to arrive.We were given bread and olives which neither of us wanted. The wine was the wrong measure and was warm. When we came to pay the girl did not know about the Cote reward scheme. Service was already included which i did not want to pay but just to leave quickly we paid!!

All round pretty average food and ambiance. Service, bar options and knowledge of wine menu really lacking. Kept waiting all evening no follow up for drinks and closed at 11pm, no welcome or goodbyes. Felt like a tired chain restaurant which was a surprise. Wasn't awful but unlikely to return much better options in the area that want the custom.

Were kept waiting when we arrived, and given a wobbly table. Staff were nice and food was good, though. They are Coeliac accredited and have an extensive gluten free menu.

Food was nice. The main course however was brought out while we were still drinking our aperitifs and eating our starters. A lack of basic restaurant procedure it seems. Not the end of the world but annoying. Also the 12.5% optional service charge which is added to the bill so that you may opt to have it removed is irksome. The server lacked any charm or grace which may have merited a tip so to pay 12.5% for decidedly mediocre service is definitely overcharging. All in all, I won't rush to go back.

Nice venue, well located in a nice part of town. Three course set menu was exceptional at £13.95. Loved my bacon and egg salad and my steak frites in particular, and eating gluten free was easy.

Excellent choice on very good value lunch menu.... portions generous and didn't have some for lovely sounding sweets. Service faultless and wine advice spot on. We will be back soon! 😄

Appreciated being welcomed to the restaurant by a member of staff although did not realise my table was booked for upstairs. Friendly and efficient staff. Ambience very pleasant. Food was excellent and beautifully presented. All in all an excellent lunch. I would have no hesitation in recommending Cote.

The ambience, food and service were, as expected, excellent - and exceptional value for money. My only criticism is that the restaurant was pretty cold so we felt we had to eat quickly to prevent our delicious food going cold. I hadn't appreciated there was an upstairs dining area so had a quick look and it was Baltic up there with windows open at each end so perhaps the draft was seeping downstairs. For me, this does not make for comfortable dining.

We had a really lovely lunch, the food and presentation were good and the staff lovely, not too intrusive but there. A go again place!
