Côte Lewes

We arrived early for our booking but were shown to a table straight away. The food was delicious, accompanied by some good wines. The staff were attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed out visit.

Covid appliance was excellent . We were greeted with a warm smile and from there on in the lunch was pure joy. Our waitress couldn’t have been more helpful or pleasant. The complimentary aperitif was welcome and the food was good value, well presented and delicious. Would strongly recommend.

Excellent food and above average service. My dining partner was a little reluctant after some slow service on a previous visit to this restaurant some time ago but there could be absolutely no complaints this time around. I was keen to go after an excellent experience at your Shrewsbury restaurant in September. Not disappointed!

The service, food, quality and value for money was to a very high standard as usual. And COVID restrictions were well adhered to. The only adverse comment I would make is that there were a couple in the restaurant who were using very abusive language very loudly and I felt that it would have been appropriate for the Manager to have asked them to moderate their language.

Food was great as usual - never had a bad meal in Cote.

We had a very pleasant couple of hours in a comfortable 'booth' apart from other tables. Staff wore masks and we were sufficiently separated from other diners to feel safe from covid. There were a couple of issues, though, and I didn't want to spoil the occasion by mentioning them at the time: the special cocktail of the day wasn't available, and the rhubarb martini I was offered instead was far too sweet and I could not taste any alcohol in it at all. Also the minute steak was quite tough and hard to chew. I've eaten at Cote many times, and used to love the steak frites, but the last few times it hasn't been as tender as it used to be. Finally, although the creme caramel was delicious, the caramel was very dark and had a burnt taste.

Delicious meal at Cote Lewes last night. Sadly, the vegan menu with the lentil stew is not currently available due to the pandemic but the chefs were very accommodating. I had the Chicken and Walnut salad but instead of the chicken, they roasted portobello mushrooms. Really nice. And for the mains, they produced a linguine with roast vegetables. A very enjoyable and tasty meal.

Great service from our waiter but the main course came immediately after the starter. Far too rushed and spoiled the experience especially since our table was booked for 6pm. On the positive side, the menu iss always fantastic!

We were celebrating my wife's bus pass birthday and enjoyed our meal at Cote. All the dishes were great and really tasty, and asked Jack our waiter to pass on our compliments to the chefs. The service was also excellent, Jack looked after us well in a friendly and helpful way and made a good wine recommendation for our next time at the restaurant -which we will follow up!

Catching up with friends - excellent food and friendly, polite and efficient service - everything felt very well thought through in terms of safeguarding the health of customers and staff but maintaining a relaxed atmosphere. Very good value. Looking forward to returning.

Such a lovely treat to go out for the first time since lockdown. Exceptional staff, impeccable service and safety measures very evident. Food was outstanding as always.

Great friendly service. It was my birthday, not prompted my me and my desert was decorated with Happy Birthday and a free glass of bubbles. I am also coeliac and the care taken to ensure no cross contamination is excellent. well done the Lewes team.

A little surprised tables not spaced more or using Perspex but it was actually absolutely fine.

We really enjoy going to our local Cote restaurant in Lewes. Service always good with friendly helpful staff. The only small downside was the seating next to the window which was fine at the start but got a bit cold after a while

Enjoyable meal and strangely enough the service was almost 'too quick' but not complaining. Temperature and quality of the food was outstanding.

Please have more vegetarian mains On the menu that don’t have cheese. Ratatouille!

Simply wonderful. We were made to feel very special dining at Lewes Cote and enjoyed our evening immensely.

A shame the full vegetarian menu was not available. My friend ordered haddock from the special menu but was served haddock goujons. The staff were apologetic and corrected their error and did not charge for the haddock. This response to the initial error was faultless.

The staff were so lovely. The food was fantastic and We had a free kit royal thrown in as well so I. The whole a 5 star experience. I took my mum and dad and they both said they would definitely come back and that it had been one of the best meals they’d had. We shared the ChateauBriand and mum had the fish stew and they were perfect.

A delicious lunch, it felt very safe, we were in a booth, the service was just the right balance so there when needed and in the background when not. Highly recommended. Would say that the other diners if noisy make a table at the front the best option but really fine anywhere. Would not hesitate to recommend as a place with a sprinkle of special about it.

Great experience overall, really friendly and accommodating manager and ditto our waitress. Blanc de blanc was delicious as was food, first time I’d tried the lamb rump and I loved it. Sorry I marked it down a star but being picky the roast veg were a bit on the crunchy stage. But much enjoyed and it’s great for Lewes to have one. Happy days!

Excellent service. Delicious meal, as always experienced here in Lewes. Difficult times for restaurants at present, due to COVID-19 restrictions, but a little disappointed with the very restricted menu choice. Missing our favourites like moules, beef bourguignon and other french classics previously offered.

We had a delicious lunch on Sunday - Chateaubriand - can thoroughly recommend - salad properly dressed, meat cooked perfectly, bernaise sauce great. Staff were friendly and professional. We will be back.

A perfectly amazing birthday celebration for my wife. We were greeted with Kir Royale on our arrival. The staff were most helpful and friendly, bringing menus, advising on wine selections and making recommendations suited to our dietary requirements. Our choices of food were just the right size, cooked to perfection, and absolutely delicious. The dessert, complete with a lighted candle, completed the whole experience.

The portion have gone down in standard and presentation, versus the price. Steak and frites is bland and looks uninspiring. Some leaf on the plate (as you used to do) would be nice. The taste is good but doesn’t look good. Overall a nice lunch but not good value for money!

Always good in Lewes, Chichester, London Bridge; not so in Brighton.

We love cote lewes. Very pleasant staff very efficient as usual. Complimentary rhubarb cocktail was delicious. I had the lamb chops and my husband had the fish parmentier both excellent. Felt quite safe with plenty of hand sanitisers around.

A table for four and we couldn’t fault the booking, service, ambiance or the food. We were well looked after by our waitress ( Lauren Mc).

We had a great evening here and have to say, the best French Onion soup I have tasted for some time. The Breton chicken was moist in every bite and the steak cooked perfectly. Out waitress from Madrid, sorry forgot to ask for the name, did a great job despite being new. Was a bit nervous but great smile and interpersonal skills. The team seemed to gel and work well together and supported our waitress when required. Lovely meal and I am sure the restaurant will be number one on Tripadvisor after a few weeks of reopening.
