In spite of trying times, we had a lovely meal

Excellent food as always. We were treated really well and great safety measures without being intrusive. It is no surprise we chose to eat at Cote for our first indoor resteraunt following lockdown.

As always beautiful surroundings with great staff. Food perfect. Empty restaurant but sat others slightly too close for social distancing maybe?

Food was very good and service excellent. We felt very safe with the new covid restrictions in place. Only reservation was that the toilets were a long way away and not terribly well ventilated (which is difficult to rectify, I appreciate) and the disabled toilet appeared locked. They were however clean and well stocked with paper towels etc. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.

We were early for our booking but were seated without waiting, food came quickly and was delicious Wonderful service happy friendly staff.

Meal was reasonable if a little tough regarding the steak. Service was good but the waiter seemed to get a little distracted and forgot my coffee, which was thankfully provided gratis. Overall still a good choice for impromptu lunch.

the Food was really nice as usual and the service. the only thing I didn't like is that given the covid restrictions there were two small children from another table playing around and sitting to the empty but already set up tables.

Good social distancing with staff wearing visors. High food quality as usual. Latte and cappuccino could have hotter and the cappuccino in a bigger cup. We’ll be be again for a brunch very soon.

My wife and celebrated our 61st wedding anniversary on Saturday. Fortunately we had booked ahead as the restaurant was very busy - good sign. In spite of this, service was outstandingly good and friendly. "Dan' escorted us to out table and we were very pleasantly surprised to be supplied with a glass of 'bubbly' to celebrate the occasion. We frequent the Cotes regularly and have never found it anything but outstanding. The a la carte menu is just about right and we were both delighted with our choices. The Bbq and grilled chicken are to be recommended - both succulent and not over-done. After starters we were ill prepared to enjoy the delights of the desserts selection - but from what we saw, they looked excellent. Well done everyone. We Will return!!!

This was our 4th or 5th visit. Had never eaten in Newbury before and have not tried any other establishment since. It's really very good. This time we arrived at 4:30 pm having booked for 5pm. Staff were welcoming and efficient and all seemed to be in a good mood and working happily together. The restaurant was not particularly busy but there was a very good atmosphere. Noise level was low enough to be able to talk easily without raising voice (that's very important). Service very good, Food came quickly with no sense of 'rush' and it was really excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. Next time in Town will definitely eat here again.

Very good food and service. We moved tables however as a family were seated very close next to us which would have made social distancing virtually impossible. Suggest adjacent tables are not used in future until we return to normal.

Food, Staff, atmosphere, great as usual. Best of all we didn't feel rushed.

Had a great meal and really enjoyed the evening. All the employees we spoke with were really friendly especially our waitress. The only negative was the face guards, which made it difficult to hear, but we got by. I understand that this is a preference issue and it may make some people (staff and guests) feel safer. I’ve eaten out at many places since the lockdown eased and most places are now a little more relaxed, leaving it to the employees to decide. It does look better than paper masks and is better for the environment overall, just made it hard to hear. It wouldn’t however stop me visiting again.

We were well distanced from other diners. The food was delicious, as always, with a good choice. Efficient waiter. Appreciated the hard work the staff put in to serve us well. We prefer downstairs to upstairs, where we sat, which is why atmosphere is only 4 star in this review.

We really enjoyed our meal. Care was taken on arrival to ensure appropriate social distancing. The servers and staff were friendly and checked we had everything we needed but they were not obtrusive. The food as always was of a good standard. It came quickly but with enough time between courses. My only criticism was the meal was quite heavily seasoned, however it was still very tasty. We were upstairs which is a little bit "echoy", but the music was quite low so it was easy to hear each other. A big thumbs up from me!

The meal was tasty but the sirloin steak was quite chewy, we had one medium rare and one well done, with a few grissly pieces. Other than that was ok

All care was taken by the staff and as always the food was delicious. A great way to spend time over the Bank Holiday.

The food was good except the garlic bread. We all enjoyed our main dishes and puddings were fine. Service was dreadful as at one point we waited 15mins while our waiter chatted. I tried on numerous occasions to attract attention and eventually called a manager over who then tried very hard to please us. I regret paying the 12.5% service charge but was embarrassed to argued as my parents were our guests. That ruined our evening and we don’t feel inclined to return.

All of the staff at Newbury Cote are amazing, very welcoming, and will do anything for you. I was particularly impressed by a member of your staff who welcomed and seated us, on both occasions she went out of her way to make sure our dietary requirements were met - 10/10. Also, the lobsters were awesome! THANK YOU :)

Lovely reception made to feel welcome and happy to change where we were seated. Food was delicious, didn’t wait too long and we were not rushed. Very relaxing and enjoyable.
