It’s not every day you come across a Portuguese eatery. It’s even rarer to find one as good as Diego’s in Southampton, on Belford Place. With a stylish-rustic red brick and wood interior, Diego’s serves up the best of what Portuguese barbecuing has to offer - from chicken, steaks and burgers right down to a whole fish that’s grilled to perfection. With its legion of platters and tapas to share, Diego’s in Southampton’s city centre is the perfect spot for a royal round table with your friends or family. Don’t wait to discover the succulent taste of Portugal and piri piri down at Diego’s.
Diego’s in Southampton knows a thing or two when it comes to the art of Portuguese barbecue. This European-inspired restaurant is an expert when it comes to the charcoal grill, and the meats on offer in this Southampton city centre spot are some of the best you’ll find anywhere. The restaurant itself is charming and rustic, and when you first enter there’s an overwhelming feeling that you’ll be in for a really good time. Kick things off at Diego’s in Southampton with some tapas and nibbles to share. We can’t go past the tabula Portuguese board of classic Portuguese cheeses and pork salami; barbecue honey wings or grilled king prawns with a serve of freshly-baked bread to soak it all up.
For the main event, Diego’s really is a carnivore’s haven. Fill your boots with the famous picanha steak, cooked on the charcoal grill with rock salt and freshly ground pepper, or try the alheira de Mirandela smoked sausage made from a blend of meats served with batata frita and topped with a fried egg. If you’re a seafood fan, the seafood grill selection is for you, made with a mix of sea bream, salmon, king prawns and scallops, and when washed down with an ice cold beer of one of Diego's premium wines, well, we can’t think of anything better really. You’ll find this Southampton restaurant in the city centre on Bedford Place. Booking ahead is essential… as is bringing a big appetite!
Excellent as always. Keep doing what you are doings guys.
Super friendly staff. The food was delicious and good value for money. Authentic Portuguese cuisine and plenty of choice. Would definitely comeback and I highly recommended this restaurant. Parking is paid (no onsite parking) but it is not too expensive.
A really enjoyable experience ... decent quality reasonably priced food & excellent service. A good pit stop within a short walking distance of The Mayflower Theatre & Sea City Museum.
