It’s not every day you come across a Portuguese eatery. It’s even rarer to find one as good as Diego’s on Belford Place in Southampton. With a stylish-rustic red brick and wood interior, Diego’s serves up the best of what Portuguese barbecuing has to offer - from chicken, steaks and burgers right down to a whole fish that’s grilled to perfection. With its legion of platters and tapas to share, Diego’s in Southampton’s city centre is the perfect spot for a royal round table with your friends or family. Don’t wait to discover the succulent taste of Portugal and piri piri down at Diego’s.

Diego’s knows a thing or two when it comes to the art of Portuguese barbecue. This European-inspired restaurant is an expert when it comes to the charcoal grill, and the meats on offer in this Southampton city centre spot are some of the best you’ll find anywhere. The restaurant itself is charming and rustic, and when you first enter there’s an overwhelming feeling that you’ll be in for a really good time. Kick things off at Diego’s with some tapas and nibbles to share. We can’t go past the tabula Portuguese board of classic Portuguese cheeses and pork salami; barbecue honey wings or grilled king prawns with a serve of freshly-baked bread to soak it all up.
For the main event, Diego’s really is a carnivore’s haven. Fill your boots with the famous picanha steak, cooked on the charcoal grill with rock salt and freshly ground pepper, or try the alheira de Mirandela smoked sausage made from a blend of meats served with batata frita and topped with a fried egg. If you’re a seafood fan, the seafood grill selection is for you, made with a mix of sea bream, salmon, king prawns and scallops, and when washed down with an ice cold beer of one of Diego's premium wines, well, we can’t think of anything better really. You’ll find this Southampton restaurant in the city centre on Bedford Place. Booking ahead is essential… as is bringing a hungry appetite!
Very quick with your order. Polite and friendly staff. Food is fantastic, never had a bad experience, does get busy but they do accommodate your size party.
Brilliant, tasty meaty authentic wings. Friendly service and excellent food. All you can eat Wings Wednesday is going to be very tempting now most Wednesdays!
Great food and even better service. Would recommend to anyone that is looking for a good value for money establishment in a relaxing environment. Thanks guys.
The staff were nice and friendly. The meal was really good. I had bream with sweet potato fries... and I honestly can't fault the dish.
Food was average quality, I asked for a rare steak and got something that was tasteless and over done. The fried egg was forgotten and in order to pay we had to wait 15 minutes posts getting the cheque and asked multiple times for the card reader and was ignored. I'd heard great things about Diegos but think in future i'd give it a miss. THe waitress that served us however was SO lovely. If everything there was up to her standard then i'd definitely reconsider my decision to no return
Great food, great value, brilliant service. The only thing that spoilt it was the party upstairs. Being forced to listen to a large group of girls, all singing out of tune at the top of their voices for the duration of my meal was really off putting. Would have been top marks if that hadn't happened.
All you can eat chicken wings for £10 on Wednesdays. Thought the chicken wings were quite meaty but they were very salty and a little overcooked so they had a slight charred taste to them. The second batch of hot spicy ones were cooked a lot nicer.
Lovely restaurant, not a lot for vegetarians, but in all fairness it is a chicken house! Will deffinatelu visit your restaurant again. Also really good service from out waitress, happy and always checking on us. X
Service was quick and polite, food was tasty and came quick. Just needed a bit of a flavour with the wings to top it off but overall a must try the unlimited wings on a Wednesday.
Lovely atmosphere, amazing food and good music. It was very busy but we received our food on time and the service was also good. Will deifinitely return, thank you
Really Nice food, lovely lady server really helpful and kind. Nice ambiance and decor. Will be going back again soon for the all you can eat wings again
Wings were decent, chips were okay, quick service, food was nice and hot, would recommend an great deal on a Wednesday! Was busy but great service.
Extremely friendly. Food was good, well cooked and hot. Only one slight negative. The cappuccino coffe was to strong. Overall a good meal with good food.
Good food reasonably priced. Very good drinks and a nice service. Also looks nice and clean. With fresh grilled food.Ill be coming back more often
Food was good. Service was good. Could not read the menu - small white words on a brown background. Air conditioning was fierce. Service charge was included in the bill.
Food was lovely, staff not really bothered. Paid no attention to your table of four. Every time we wanted something we had to go to them.
