We had the French onion burger, crab cakes and a side of macaroni cheese to share everything was lovely but star of the show was definitely the burger - absolutely amazing! Good choice of drinks but would be nice to have more on draught.

Food that can't be faulted. Decent service and more than accommodating for a large group of us. Never had a bad meal.here. highly reccomended. Awesome

Lovely food and very busy so the word is obviously getting around on how good this place is! Booking is essential, especially on a Friday or Saturday night.

Fantastic food and service. We visited as a large group, with three gluten-free diners. There was gluten dree bread available for the burgers as well as other gluten free options. There was less choices for dairy-free diners but it was possible to ask for burgers without the cheese etc. We all enjoyed our food and would visit again.

great food. Very fresh ingredients, excellent burghers and nice people. If no rain, eating in the garden would be wonderful . I will come back.

Great garden to sit in during the sunny weather but food fairly average. Fries were disappointing (frozen?) but special salad was good, featuring home grown pickled rhubarb. Crab cakes were also bland. Very few vegetarian options. Gin and tonic was overpoweringly sweet

Booked a table for 6 on a sunny day and staff happily accommodated our request for a table in the sun in the beer garden.. service was friendly and food was lovely.. would go back again

We were having drinks nearby. and I was looking online for somewhere to eat before. And stumbled across free steak kitchen. Excellent food and the staff couldn’t do enough for you. Very reasonable price. Will definitely be eating here again.

Food was nice and cocktails are lovely! Gutted that the chicken wings weren't ready yet! Fries are sooooo tasty! Love that you can use local currency too!

Delicious! The double french onion burger is heaven and the rosemary fries are to die for! Service is very good and they always have interesting specials on offer.

Brilliant food & lovely atmosphere. Would have scored top marks but unfortunately where we were sat was very draughty every time the door opened. Not great on an extremely cold evening

Friendly, helpful staff and great food. I'd recommend the buffalo wings- the best I've ever had! Not much selection of puddings but the brownies we had were fantastic

Fabulous restaurant. Seated 15 of us for a special get together including 9 children. Excellent food and even modified the menu for one of our kids. Lovely warm welcoming staff and relaxed atmosphere. Cant wait to return.

Excellent service for a big group of 15 diners - all very slick with no compromise on food quality. I would recommend Free State Kitchen for larger groups - staff are friendly and accommodating.

Good food and cocktails. I can recommend the Maryland crab cakes. A nice relaxed atmosphere. We were a large group and didn't feel hurried or rushed like you do in some places.

We got there at 6pm and there were 2 other tables occupied so service was quick and the team were attentive and friendly. The seasoning levels of the food I found strange, my friend's spicy buffalo wings had no kick, my chicken burger had so much seasoning in it smelled like a spliff and everybody's rosemary fries were too salty. Don't know if its an American thing, but I'm afraid we won't be going back based on the food.

Busy, good atmosphere, quirky, but noisy and echoing which made conversation difficult especially as three of our party were deaf and use hearing aids. Food, lots of it, fries over salted for us, but good representation of American fare.

Excellent quality food with a very quick turnaround. We had a party of 10 which needed to be out within and hour and it was done with ease.

Love the food here, nice service, relaxed environment and good price. Brought my american family this time, pleased to say the loved it. I particularly love the onion rings! The mint choc with your tea or coffee finishes it off really nicely. Always happy to come back here.

Amazing outside seating area to sit and enjoy food and/or drinks with cosy garden. Mac and cheese is great with onions and the option of bacon. Staff are really accommodating and friendly. Highly recommended!

Fabulous afternoon spent in the gorgeous garden to celebrate my graduation. I wa swith six family members who had never been before, but all said they will be back, small wonder as the food is amazing, service is top notch and the owners are just lovely!

The place is great as is the service but I was disappointed with the menu although the food we got was good my choice was not available and the menu is a little limited. Outdoor area is fab.

Excellent meal as always, one of our favourite restaurants in Liverpool. We normally just turn up, but as it was a family group this time we booked in advance, which was hassle free.

Excellent meal, which to go for hot dogs or burger. I went classic cheeseburger good choice but guys who went dogs great also. A must have is chicken wings Peng good. Lovely staff, great eats in heart of Hope street nothing not to like all good. Oh forgot chips wow the best in years.

Great little restaurant which is worth searching out. Good well presented food served by professional waiting staff. Looking forward to the warmer weather to try their good looking garden space.

Excellent meal - brilliant burgers and friendly, welcoming staff. The French Onion burgers are worth a visit alone. They also have a wide ranging drinks selection including some great beers from around the world

The restaurant was a bit chilly but otherwise great. Good food and good service.. the fries could have been a little hotter. will be back again though.

Great quality food and a good atmosphere. The staff were really friendly and very attentive. We will definitely be going back again, on our next theatre trip!
