Showcasing the very best of Nepalese, Indian and British cuisines is no mean feat, but Ghurka 1816 is doing just that, with flying colours to boot. The menu at this Wednesbury restaurant is brimming with a plethora of enticing dishes, so no matter if you’re craving a wholesome Indian lamb rogan josh cooked with garlic, ginger and spices; an authentic Nepalese thukpa made with noodles, chicken, vegetables and a fried egg or craving British poached salmon smothered in a delicious saffron sauce, you’ll be satisfied to no end at this Wood Green Road restaurant. One thing to bear in mind though, this international foodie haven does tend to fill up so be sure to book your table ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
First time there food was lovely will definitely go there again the drinks were good also people are so very delightful a lovely clean and tidy place to enjoy good food
Visited to celebrate a birthday. Only the second time we have visited Gurkha 1816 (nearly three months ago) but were recognised by our waiter. Food was absolutely gorgeous, one of my companions declaring the Chicken Tikka was the best he'd ever had (and that dish has been a favourite of his for more decades than he'd like to count). The restaurant was quite busy and had a great buzz but this didn't detract in any way from the attentive and friendly service we enjoyed. Will definitely be making our visits more frequent!
Great food and Service at reasonable prices. Will definitely be going back to visit again. The staff are excellent and they offer a good choice of drinks. The Gurkha was exceptional.
