Given the current climate surrounding COVID-19, many authorities are placing restrictions on social gatherings. In the best interest of everyone’s safety, we are continuously updating the availability of our partner restaurants to reflect these measures. We encourage people to still support the restaurant industry in other ways.Learn how
Technically in Pokesdown, and beloved by the residents of that Bournemouth neighbourhood, you can find this outlet of Joy at the head of the Southbourne retail area on Seabourne Road. It’s fair to say, though, that wherever Joy takes root it’s sure to result in exquisite Indian cuisine with an extra serving of class. Signature dishes here include the Goa green chicken curry, fairly hot thanks to the inclusion of plenty of green chillies but tempered by the addition of coconut milk that’s characteristic of the southern Indian regional cooking style. If you’re looking for something extra-fiery, go for the chicken or lamb curry cooked with naga chillies or the Bangla-style king prawns. A couple of Thai dishes make an appearance on the menu but, in the main, this place is a Joy for Indian food fans.
I enjoyed visiting Joy Southbourne while i was on holiday with my husband. I visit Southbourne on holiday approx. 3 times per year on average.
The restaurant was closed. I would like to enforce this notion doubly seeing that I have to write 25 words, and that, reiterated, the restaurant was indeed shut upon arrival of our embodiments.
Fabulous meal!!! The best Indian we’ve found in a long time. Worth travelling from Ringwood for. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. See you again soon.
