Kathmandu is a Nepalese restaurant operated by the Mali family that has been blowing away Bristol residents – and a good number of famous faces – for over thirty years from their premises in the city centre. Relying exclusively on whole spices, ground and blended in the kitchen, Kathmandu’s menu boasts dishes with a distinctive Himalayan character, dishes that are also typically low in fat – a healthy choice! Deeply rooted in the Nepalese diaspora, Kathmandu is the default destination for Bristol’s Nepalese community and Central and South Asian cuisine in general. Seafood is big here, with sunkoshi incorporating your choice of whole sea bass, salmon or king prawns with a medium spicy sauce alongside Nepalese-style potatoes, asparagus, saffron-infused rice and salad.
